Relax with family and friends in this stylish and characterful house which sits in the heart of a pretty village in the Yorkshire Dales. This handsome, grand property will impress guests from the moment they set eyes on the local stonework and plentiful sash windows, while the beautifully decorated and furnished interior guarantees a luxurious and comfortable stay.
Visitors step directly into a large entrance hall with its own fireplace and, as throughout the property, heated flagstone floors. An antique table and chairs are perfectly positioned for quiet and cosy games of backgammon and stylish wooden shelving with thoughtfully-curated curiosities serves as a feature wall.
The heart of any house is the kitchen, and Caldbergh is no exception. An aga cooker will thrill chefs who love slow cooking mouth-watering roasts. All other appliances and fittings are thoroughly modern and it won't be long before the house is filled with marvellous smells from the oven.
A large dining table sits to the far end, ready for memorable banquets which run late into the night. And, after dinner, head to the comfy living room filled with deep sofas which surround a large fireplace. The big sash windows offer fabulous views out across Caldbergh and Coverdale.
Throughout the house, exposed beams run across the ceilings and a neutral colour-scheme shows-off the fabulous hardwood antique furniture which fills the property.
In the bedrooms, guests will find oak armoires and dressers standing on plush white carpets and seriously-comfortable, restored antique beds. Windows overlook the pretty green fields and thick curtains ensure the sun doesn't fill the room until guests are ready. One of the bedrooms has an ensuite shower room and there are two further family bathrooms, all large, modern and full of Caldbergh House character.
In the warmer months, guests will want to make the most of the magnificent garden which boasts beautiful views of Coverdale. Walled, for privacy, and with a patio area for eating, drinking and barbecuing, the garden has a large grassy lawn where youngsters and dogs can safely run and play.
This beautiful area offers plenty of opportunities for memorable days out in the Dales. Pack a picnic and stroll down to the riverside, tackle some of the many bike trails, take little ones to the quirky Forbidden Corner, or discover the pretty villages. Head to Middleham, just five minutes away, to explore Richard III's castle and enjoy a pint and bite to eat in the Black Sheep pub. The Foresters Arms at Carlton also offers good food and local ales.
