At the top of a private driveway, which takes guest through the property's spectacular grounds, visitors to Highmoor experience Georgian grandeur with all the modern luxuries essential for a truly relaxing break.
Original coving, pretty glass feature windows and beautiful architrave can be admired throughout this impressive house. The colour scheme and furnishings are faithful to the period of the property and the owners have tastefully included vintage pieces from later periods that any art enthusiasts will enjoy. There are some lovely art deco love seats and wardrobes, as well as the Georgian-style sofas and armchairs. Staying in at Highmoor is also a thoroughly modern experience where guests can enjoy movies in the cinema room, workouts in the cellar gym and pool parties in the elegant pool house. And with Sonos speakers and pop-up television sets, the tech is ever present but always discreet.
Start the day with coffee in the stylish kitchen and dining area. Enjoy breakfasts and dinners overlooking the elegant gardens and throw open the patio doors to bring the outside in. After dinner, chill out in the sumptuous living room with its deep carpet and cosy open fire. Pour a drink and catch up with friends in this luxurious room filled with welcoming sofas, thick drapes and delightful twin fireside bookshelves which are heaving with classic novels. Or head to the elegant study for board games or chess. There is further snug for those wanting to enjoy some privacy.
At the end the day, sweep up the grand staircase under the twinkling glass of the Venetian chandelier and discover five beautiful bedrooms. The master is truly breathtaking. Bathe by firelight in this magnificent room, with its open fire and a freestanding roll top bath. Luxury toiletries and large fluffy bath towels wait for when you emerge from tub. The other bedrooms also offer super comfy beds that guarantee a great night's sleep.
Visitors will love the traditional garden which maintains all it of its former glory, wander through the box hedging past the bubbling fountain, invite friends for a game on the croquet lawn or take afternoon tea amongst the sweetpeas and roses. There is a large patio with wooden dining furniture waiting to be loaded with brimming glasses and loaded dishes. The pool house has an elegant indoor swimming pool that guests will adore. This is the perfect spot for a morning dip before heading out for the day.
Guests would not be forgiven for never leaving glamorous Highmoor but the nearby scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors is stunning and well worth a visit. The local towns of Thirsk, Bedale and Masham are all a short drive away and great for picking up supplies or trying out the local pubs and restaurants. A trip to the Black Sheep Brewery comes highly recommended.
