This much loved family home with a wonderful history is nestled in private gardens with stunning views in every direction, overlooking the valley and the fells. Lowfield House would be perfect for a big family get together or a group of friends seeking a peaceful retreat in the midst of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, England's Largest National Park.
The inside of this impressive house is modern, warm and very welcoming. It has two living rooms both of which feature large, wall-mounted smart TVs that are ideal for movie nights or box set marathons. One of the living rooms features a dining area that seats 10, a big cosy sofa by the fireplace and a window seat where you can laze with a glass of wine and watch the light play on the verdant landscape outside. The second living room has an equally fabulous large sofa where you can settle in for a movie with popcorn and blankets. Next up is the fabulous snug, which is a cosy room with wallpaper covered in books where you can curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.
The kitchen is perfect for any aspiring chefs. It has also been used by professional chefs from Yhangry Ltd and Michelin 3 star trained chef Alex Beard, providing fine dining experiences at Lowfield. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped for cooking delicious feasts. It features a large 6 ring gas range with twin ovens, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso coffeemaker there is also a central island where you can prep food and enjoy a tasty drink. The island has a further combination microwave and oven with a plate warming drawer beneath along with a wine cooler and seating area.
The ground floor also has a handy utility room with two washer dryers and there’s an additional cloakroom with a WC.
Upstairs you'll find five elegantly decorated and very spacious bedrooms. And all of them have ensuites so there's no queuing for anyone in the morning! Two of the rooms have super-king sized beds, one has a king size and the remaining two have large twins. Two of the bedrooms boast Juliet balconies, but all of them have stunning views. It's impossible to look out of any window in this house and not be awed by the beauty. One of the bedrooms also features a huge freestanding bath tub where you can indulge in a relaxing soak in peace whilst taking in the delightful valley views out of the huge windows.
After a tranquil night's sleep, head down for breakfast, grab a coffee and head out on to the wonderful patio which wraps around the house. Take a seat and soak in nature whilst you make your plans for the day. You might like to take a morning dip in the hot tub, or perhaps save it for later for a good soak after a long walk! The garden is lovely and fenced in so children and dogs can run around freely whilst you light up the BBQ.
You might be tempted to stay in and around the house and no one could blame you, however, the local area has much to offer. Walks are an obvious must, it's rare to be immersed in such a spectacular backdrop of wonderful hillsides, lakes and wilderness. Blea Tarn is just up the road and well worth a visit and Lake Windemere is just 10 miles away. There are local distilleries, film locations, steam railways rides and art galleries all within a short distance.
If you fancy a pint and a delicious meal the hosts recommend Three Shires Inn, a short walk from the house, where dogs are welcome. The Eltermere Inn also comes highly recommended and offers gastronomic delights ranging from afternoon tea on the terrace, to Sunday roasts and an extensive dinner menu.
However you choose to spend your day, at the end of it you can return to the delightful Lowfield House, grab a drink and sink into the hot tub as the stars sparkle up above.
