Hidden away in a scenic valley in North Yorkshire’s beautiful countryside, this elegant farmhouse has recently been transformed into a cosy and inviting holiday home. Inside, you’ll find the original features of the house, such as the stone walls and restored wooden beams alongside contemporary interior design. Outside, there’s a courtyard garden with a BBQ and a hot tub, the perfect spot to relax and soak up the views.
Step inside and you’ll find living spaces that feel bright and airy thanks to the huge floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the surrounding fields. The contemporary kitchen with its large island is fully-equipped for a self-catering holiday. There’s plenty of space for everyone to help prepare dinner and set the dining table a few paces away. As evening draws in, a cosy atmosphere is created with soft lighting above the table and the warm tones of the exposed stone wall. After dinner, move through to the living area to snuggle up on the sofa in front of a film on the TV or get stuck into the family’s favourite board games.
If you fancy a quiet moment to put your feet up with a good book, the snug is the perfect spot. Get a fire going in the log burner and relax on one of the comfy sofas. You’ll also find a handy boot room and the first of the four bedrooms on the ground floor. This ensuite bedroom has been stylishly decorated with a blue feature wall and the super-king size bed can be split into two singles.
Upstairs, there are three more ensuite bedrooms, all with their own character. The main bedroom features a luxurious super-king size bed set facing floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the countryside. Enjoy the view with a cup of tea in the mornings from the comfort of your pillow. There’s a freestanding bath in the ensuite where you can relax and help your legs recover after a long walk in the Yorkshire Dales. The other two bedrooms can be set up with super-king size beds or twins, offering plenty of flexibility for groups. Both are beautifully furnished with statement headboards and their high, sloping ceilings give them a cosy feel.
There’s plenty of exploring to do with castles, market towns and the rolling Yorkshire Dales all on your doorstep. If you fancy learning more about the area and its history, head out to Richmond and Barnard Castle, two historic towns and both with castles to visit. Richmond Castle is one of the best preserved early Norman castle in the country. Both towns also offer plenty in the way of restaurants, pubs and cafes or you can stock up on supplies for the BBQ at the farm shop just down the road from the house.
If you’re looking to stretch your legs and explore some of the countryside, head off on a riverside walk along the River Swale to Richmond Falls. The Yorkshire Dales are also just a short drive away with plenty of walking and cycling routes amongst some stunning scenery.
