Fletcher House is an elegantly refurbished home that once functioned as a workers' cottages. The interior is light and cheerful with eclectic comfortable furnishings and plenty of room to unwind for up to eight people.
The open plan kitchen and dining area has been created to provide a central hub where everyone can come together to cook, drink, chat and eat. The kitchen is a long galley opening up to a very generous dining space with a big table where you can relax in comfort and catch up over a delicious supper. There's a plush velvet sofa tucked into the corner for those that prefer to watch the food being cooked whilst enjoying a drink. And for those days when no one wants to cook, the hosts can arrange a private chef.
The house is full of warm welcoming colour and the walls are adorned with interesting vibrant works of art that you'll enjoy discovering as you wander around.
The living room is perfect for movie nights with a big corner sofa nestled by the flickering flames of the wood burner. The rear of the room has a nook with a coffee table and armchairs where you can relax with a book or catch up with a loved one over a cup of tea and enjoy the view of the garden.
There's a cloakroom with plenty of space for everyone's coats and wellies after a day of exploring the Dales, and a utility room in the outside store has a washing machine and dryer.
Upstairs are four equally lovely bedrooms, three of which have super-king size beds which can be split into twins depending on your needs. They all have luxe fabric headboards, comfy linens and cosy duvets to encourage a really good night's rest.
Two bathrooms ensure there won't be any long queues in the morning and each has its own unique design with retro tiling. One has a large bathtub with a shower overhead and the other a large walk-in rainfall shower where you can start the day after a late night.
A sunny morning in Yorkshire is a joy to behold. Grab a coffee and head out into the garden, take a seat at the dining table and make your plans for the day. You might be tempted to throw yourself in the hot tub but this is pleasure best left for post-walk, limb soaking bliss.
Ainderby Quernhow is close to Thirsk and offers many wonderful walks and landmarks, making this a very special area of North Yorkshire. It's the heart of James Herriot world and a fantastic place to bring your dog for a holiday. Visit the Black Sheep Brewery in Marsham, and nearby in Thorp Perrow you can see the Arboretum or Newby Hall and Gardens.
There's also plenty of traditional pubs, a farmers market and The Good Shop farm shop where you can stock up on delicious Yorkshire produce. After which you can head back to Fletcher House, light up the BBQ and sink into the hot tub with a glass of fizz as the sky turns to night and the stars become your canopy.
