Indulge the seclusion that the Welsh countryside provides at Red Kite Barn, a self catering holiday home that truly offers the chance to get away from it all. With the sun setting over the mountains on one side and 80 acres of private woodland on the other, what better place to relax and unwind.
The barn conversion has been undertaken in a chic and contemporary style, yet without ever losing its rustic charm. Named after the red kites that fly above, the property sleeps up to 6 guests in what has been dubbed an 'upside-down' design. The large timbered living area is found on the first floor and is a flexible space that suits any need, with light flooding in from the panoramic windows offering views across the valley.
With a pool table and plenty of seating options the space can be a social hub, or with the log firing burning it is a romantic retreat, or start up the projector and mood setting LED lights and convert it into a cinema room. The well equipped kitchen comes complete with a dishwasher and wine fridge and there is also a large dining table accompanied by chapel pews.
Guests then go down the bespoke oak stairs to the sleeping quarters. Here there are 3 king size bedrooms, all with beds rescued from London's Savoy Hotel. 2 are set up as doubles and 1 as a twin, with 1 of the doubles also having an en-suite bathroom. There is also a family bathroom with freestanding bath.
Red Kite Barn itself sits on an estate which is a working commercial forest, which is managed for conservation and acts as the perfect starting point for getting out and about. As a result there are plenty of opportunities to see wildlife right on the doorstep. Hares, nuthatches, and rare breeds of butterfly are now returning to the area, while buzzards are breeding in the trees behind the barn. The mountains of Elenydd rise high above the building in this corner of Powys near Builth Wells and Newbridge-on-Wye, and it is fantastic to watch the sun set behind them perhaps with a glass of wine or toasted marshmallow.

Leave a reviewWhat a fabulous fine! Red Kite Barn is beautifully appointed and in a stunning remote location. We loved the comfy bedrooms with shutters so the rooms were dark. The pool table and huge projector screen were big hits too, the kids looked forward to feeding the pigs everyday too! The surrounding area of the property is simply stunning and we had amazing weather during our stay. Couldn't recommend this property highly enough!

We all loved our stay at R.K.B, the remoteness of it makes it extra special & the barn is stunning. The track was fine & the walking was great, and when it rained we played pool & watched movies. It is a stunning barn and a stunning location! we can not fault it! We will definitely be returning as it was a lovely break away in such an beautiful accommodation.
