For a delightful combination of rustic charm and modern luxury, look no further than The Cow Shed. In 2015, this charming farmland building was converted from an old - you've guessed it - cow shed. It now makes for a five-star luxury self-catering accommodation that sleeps up to six guests. Its location in the picturesque Snowdonia region makes for the perfect base for those wishing to explore some of the UK's most stunning countryside. So, whether you're a group of friends, a couple of couples, or a family, The Cow Shed is sure set your heart alight. Did we mention that there is an on-site heated swimming pool?
The owners have done their utmost to ensure that the rustic heritage of the building has been respected, with the exterior's original stonework remaining intact. While it is likely the oldest building on the historic Llanfendigaid Estate, the theme of The Cow Shed's interior is one that is sleek and modern. Large windows throughout ensure plenty of natural light and give the house an invigorating air, while the vaulted ceilings provide a rustic appeal.
The living area is open planned, with a large corner sofa at one end and a modern wood burner at the other. The dining area (with an eight-seater table) benefits from a wall of floor to ceiling windows, providing guests with gorgeous views of the surrounding hills. The modern kitchen comes fully equipped. There are three bedrooms: two doubles (one with ensuite) and one twin room. There is also a bathroom with a bath and shower, and a separate WC. Step outside to enjoy your very own private courtyard, with BBQ, firepit, and garden furniture.
The Cow Shed sits in the south of Snowdonia, one of three national parks in Wales (and containing the highest peaks outside of Scotland). The region - known for its sprawling open lands and mountainous landscape - is a favourite of nature lovers. The wonderfully varied landscape consists of steep river gorges, picturesque waterfalls, green valleys, and charming country villages. This makes it the ideal setting for hikes, trails, mountain biking, or a nice country drive. With 23 miles of coastline, it is also home to several sandy beaches. The nearby village of Aberdovey (seven miles) is home to a world class golf course, while the market town of Machynlleth is home to the fascinating Centre for Alternative Technology.
