Great Burrow Cottage, once a linhay, is surrounded by bridleways and footpaths in the stunning West Devon countryside and would be perfect for a romantic and tranquil getaway or a family holiday with kids.
The cottage appears rustic and charming. Nestled in a wild garden, it's reminiscent of a fairytale setting. When you step inside you'll find a modern, elegant and very welcoming living area with slate and wood flooring, a wood burner and comfortable seating. The oak beams add a rustic feel and French doors allow the sunshine to warm the room. There's a dining table with benches and seats for six and the whole vibe is one of comfort and ease.
The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling, granite work tops and is modern but homely. It's fully equipped for the making of delicious meals, and there's a pretty window seat where you can enjoy your first coffee of the day with lovely views.
On the ground floor you'll find the main bedroom with a super-king sized bed and a cream iron frame. Crisp white linens and a simple décor promise a peaceful night's sleep. Up the elm spiral staircase you'll find a large attic room with three single beds and a day bed that converts into a king size. With oak beams and a window to allow the light in, this room is ideal for kids or friends who are happy to share. The family bathroom is stylish and modern with a slate floor, large deep bath and a refreshing deluge shower above.
Head out through the French doors and enjoy a drink on the private deck surrounded by the truly delightful garden with its wildlife ponds and ancient oak tree, beyond which you can enjoy the views of Dartmoor's wild northern tors. You may find the odd free-range chicken wandering by.
There's a lovely little table and chairs here too where you can eat a meal surrounded by nature. And right next to it is a fabulous wood-fired hot tub where you can soak away your cares at any time of day. Night time is particularly wonderful with the stars above you.
If you fancy dining alfresco there's a campfire you can cook on, or perhaps you'd like to try your hand with the pizza oven! Whatever you whip up, you can relax around the fire pit afterwards and toast some marshmallows. There's an adjacent barn where you can play darts or table tennis, but if that's a little too active for you just claim the hammock under the willows and snooze the day away.
For days out there's plenty to do including the a trip across the border to the glorious North Cornwall beaches. It's one of the most popular surfing coasts, and Widemouth Bay and Bude are close by. The hosts are happy to recommend the best spots for swimming and rock pooling. There are some lovely walks straight from the doorstep which will lead you through picture perfect forests, valleys and streams.
Close to Dartmoor with Bodmin Moor and Exmoor only a short drive away, you'll find horse riding, cycling, miles of sandy beaches and plenty of great pubs. The Clovelly Inn is a lovely 30-minute walk and is well worth the stroll for a pint. For fine dining you might like to book a table at Gidleigh Park Hotel.
