Exmouth is also nicely connected to Exeter via train, which can take you all the way to Paignton if you want to head further west. There's even a scenic cycle path that winds its way along the banks of the river all the way up to Exeter, offering a peaceful way to visit the city. Be sure to stop off for a drink in Lymptson or Topsham along the way, which are both home to a number of adorable pubs.
