Set around a rustic, farmhouse courtyard in a 52-acre valley, this holiday destination offers sumptuous comforts and traditional country splendours. Expect original farmhouse features and roaring log fires, blended with contemporary furnishings and an eco-friendly design.
The centrepiece of this collection is the Winery. With spiral staircases connecting its three sprawling floors, the Winery cottage has 10 impressive double bedrooms each with comfy super-king double/twin beds and designer en-suite bathrooms.
The main kitchen is well equipped, with a 120cm range cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, six slot Dualit toasters and plentiful supplies of glasses, crockery, cutlery and pans for a large group. There's also an excellent utility room, with additional ovens, fridges, freezer and storage space, plus an industrial fast wash dish and glass washer. There is a bar and and you'll even find champagne ice buckets!
The massive dining area can seat up to 32 inside at the dining table, or on fine evenings have dinner outside on the lower terrace. The sitting room and bar area seats 32 people, as does the upper terrace. Spare sitting room for 16. There are beautiful elevated views over rolling Devon countryside.
The Winery can be booked with two other cottages (Flint and Thatched) to accommodate larger groups. The Flint and Thatched cottages sleep up to six people each in three deluxe double/twin en-suites. Both have stylish living areas and large country kitchens, along with a mix of four poster beds, super-king doubles and 3ft twins. The former even has access to its own private cinema room that has a 42” screen and state-of-the-art surround sound.
Each of the cottages has been finished to an exceptionally high standard and boasts superior fittings and an exquisite attention to style. Look out for the oak beamed ceilings and the characterful, thatched roof or the slate floors, brick archways and reclaimed prison doors. Vintage seaside prints adorn the crisp white walls and are complimented by fresh, vibrant colours and modern wall art. Underfloor heating and sink-in sofas add a warm, homely touch and are joined by oak farmhouse kitchens with range cookers and granite worktops. These six people cottages work nicely with The Winery, allowing larger groups to enjoy Higher Wiscombe in style.
Outside, each cottage has its own private, enclosed garden with an alfresco dining area and Weber BBQ. While away your days soaking up the spectacular country views or booking an exclusive session at the outdoor heated pool. There are TVs, books and games for those rainy days, along with a communal games room with table tennis and table football games.
Head out beyond your gardens to explore the magic of Devon, uncovering its wild, open countryside and windswept, sandy coastline. Prepare for country adventures and days at the beach, followed by gourmet food and a classic cream tea. Drive to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and walk the South West Coastal Path, or cycle along winding rural lanes and picnic above the sands.
