Tucked away in Somerset’s rolling countryside and with 76 acres of land, including a spectacular Victorian lake, Marston Park is a peaceful destination for a rural escape. Set close to the vibrant towns of Frome and Bruton, it's also a great spot to find some artistic inspiration while surrounding yourself with nature. The Canvas Suites and the smaller Canvas Studios are spread out along the banks of the lake, each with its own section of the shoreline, offering plenty of space to relax and unwind.
The tents are dotted along the northern shore of the lake, each with breathtaking views over the water. Inside, you’ll find a comfy double bed made up with luxurious linen as well as a living area with two sofas. The sofas can each be folded out to create some extra sleeping space, making the Canvas Suites perfect for couples or families. If you’re planning a trip with a larger group, there are 30 tents on the site, so there will be plenty of space for everyone.
Bespoke lighting adds to the cosy atmosphere inside the tents and you’ll also find sockets for charging your devices. On those chillier evenings, a wood burning stove keeps the interior warm and toasty. Outside, you’ll find a seating area around a fire pit, perfect for putting your feet up in the evenings and enjoying the sunset over the lake.
You’ll also find bathrobes, fluffy towels and Bramley toiletries waiting for you which can be used in the brand new bathroom facilities. Several cabins house hot showers and flushing loos which are shared with the other guests and are cleaned regularly.
Head over to the southern shore of the lake and you’ll find the restaurant, bar and cafe where you can grab a bite to eat after a busy day exploring. There are also performance and exhibition spaces and Marston Park also offers a schedule of activities from art exhibitions and workshops to yoga, meditation and fitness classes. You can explore the lake by hiring a pedalo or book yourself in for a session in the wild pool or the hot tub.
Avid walkers will be pleased to hear that Marston Park has beautiful woodlands and grounds surrounding the lake, perfect for exploring. If you fancy heading a little further afield, it’s just a few miles to the bustling town of Frome where you’ll find local craftspeople and artists at work with their wares on sale in the many independent shops. Bruton is also nearby, another great place to soak up a bit of the local culture as well as being home to the stunning Hauser & Wirth gallery. The National Trust gardens at Stourhead are also a lovely destination for a walk and Longleat Safari Park is nearby for days out with the family.
