Tucked away in ancient woodland on a farm in the Cotswolds, you’ll stumble across an unlikely tribute to Hollywood star Burt Reynolds. The actor was an advocate for the yurt lifestyle, crafting them by hand for his trips to the national parks of America. There were even plans for a range of ‘Burt’s Yurts’ at one point, however, the success of the movie Deliverance meant that this was never to be. Yurt Reynolds captures the spirit of the actor, stylishly furnished with a quirky edge. Sit out late into the evening gazing at the stars, just as Reynolds did many years ago, with the added luxury of a wood-fired hot tub.
The interior of the yurt feels bright and spacious thanks to the generous 16-foot diameter, the natural light filtering through the canvas and the window in the centre of the roof. Lie back on the double bed and stargaze through this window, which looks out beyond the canopy of the trees, staying cosy inside with a fire going in the wood-burner. There are also two single futon beds, making the yurt suitable for families as well as couples.
Outside, you’ll find a large deck with a well-equipped camp kitchen. There’s a two-ring gas burner and a barbecue for cooking and a small fridge for storing your supplies. A canvas shelter means you can cook outdoors whatever the weather and there’s also a table and seating for enjoying your meals surrounded by the magical woodland.
After a long walk in the surrounding countryside, relax any tired legs in the bath-house in the luxurious roll-top tub. Or get the wood-fired hot tub going and chill as you take in the natural surroundings.
If you’re looking to slow down the pace a little and reconnect with nature, there are plenty of activities in the local area that will help you do just this. Simply step off the deck and surround yourself with the farm’s ancient woodland. A track will take you through the woods and down to the canal which you can follow for a beautiful walk. The nearest farm shop, cafe and pub are all 20 minutes away, so you can enjoy your trip without needing to get in the car at all. If you fancy a refreshing swim, there’s an outdoor pool seven miles away, or you can take in the scenery from above with a trial flight at the Cotswold Gliding Club, located just down the road from the farm.
