With its selection of six luxury lodges close to the borders of Dorset and Somerset, Lower Keats Glamping has become a sought-after destination for true relaxation in East Devon’s Axe Valley. Each canvas-topped lodge sleeps six making it ideal for a family getaway to the West country.
The farm setting – complete with pigs, lambs and chickens – makes Lower Keats Glamping a special place to stay. Around four miles from Axminster, a pretty market town known around the world for its carpets, the safari lodges will really feel like a home from home. Antique furnishings and wood-burning stoves keep things cosy and full of character.
You can enjoy views across the farmland from your own terrace, or dine outside on the picnic table – perhaps making use of the firepit for a barbecue. There’s a kitchen inside, with a gas hob and coolbox, and a lovely bathroom too – you know you’re glamping when you can have a proper hot shower every morning.
The living area provides plenty of space to chill out, dine or play games, and you have three separate sleeping areas. As well as a king-size bed and twin beds, there’s a double cabin bed in a cosy hideaway. If you’re bringing baby, a travel cot and high-chair are available too.
An honesty shop on site stocks local farm produce, drinks and snacks, including artisan ice cream. You can receive food deliveries on site, or order a meal to be waiting for you on arrival. The owners can recommend a number of excellent pubs and restaurants around the area, including Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage, just outside Axminster including River Cottage Canteen and RC Home Farm HQ. There is also Mark Hix Oyster and Fish House Restaurant at Lyme Regis.
The spectacular Jurassic Coast is, in itself, a great reason to venture down this way, with the beaches of Lyme Regis and Beer within 20-30 minutes’ drive. Wildlife and adventure parks like Wildwood Escot and Crealy make for fun days out and, if stately homes are more your style, head for Forde Abbey or Barrington Court for a taste of England’s past.
In the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, nearby Axminster is surrounded by pretty countryside, ideal for walking, cycling and nature-spotting. Areas like Haldon Forest, Trinity Hill and the Seaton Wetlands along the River Axe are well worth a visit.
The stunning lodges at Lower Keats Glamping are as enchanting as their surroundings, so don’t miss your chance to enjoy the West country at its best.

Leave a reviewWe had a fabulous week here in tents that are very private, spacious inside and luxurious. The shower and log burner are particularly brilliant! It's pure escapism in the most beautiful setting. The hosts Linda and Gary make you feel so welcome and the location provides a great base to explore Devon and Dorset. Highly recommend staying here. We all loved it.

We took our 1 year old to Devon for a family weekend away and it was just perfect for us. The site is very well kept and well equipped with an honesty shop for any extra bits you might fancy when you're there. The beds are comfy, the interior of the tents is beautiful and the shower is excellent (better than most hotels), as well as the shampoo/shower gel etc which smelt very expensive! Gary and Linda were both so friendly and accommodating to us, our baby and our dog. We loved being surrounded by all the sounds of animals and waking up to the cows and the (very friendly) pigs. On our last day we helped out with feeding the animals and collecting the eggs for the on-site shop which our little one loved. We will be recommending this place to our friends and family, it was both perfect for children and romantic at the same time with our candlelit evenings on the decking watching the sun fade away. Thank you Linda and Gary, hopefully we will be back.
