The detail

Right opposite the sandy stretches of Camber beach, The Blue House on the Beach is a dreamy and contemporary beach house. With space for up to eight guests, this property is available as a self-catering cottage for anybody looking to spend time with friends or family on one Britain’s loveliest stretches of coastline.

With Apple TV, super-luxurious furniture and a versatile set up which suits families of younger children and parties with pets, this is the perfect getaway for a beachside minibreak.

Downstairs, the main living space is a gorgeous open plan kitchen-cum-dining room, where you’ll find an engineered wood burning stove and the television, as well as a picture window overlooking your own private front patio, and of course the roaring sea. No expense has been spared in kitting out the furniture which is a pleasure to cook in with its sleek modern finishes and abundance of pans and utensils. Using local seafood and produce, cook up a storm for the whole group, and eat either all sat around the indoors dining table, or out on the deck in the sun, where you’ll also find the full sized barbecue. Either way, you’ll have a wonderful sea view.

Upstairs, the master bedroom boasts a substantial view of the sea, alongside a spacious private freestanding bath tub, your own shower, and an en-suite toilet, all within a minimalist and modern room with high ceilings. The second bedroom also offers a freestanding bath tub in the sleeping space, as well as a private en-suite. The remaining two bedrooms are downstairs, one with a kingsize bed, and the other with twin singles and a Smart TV, ideal for children and younger teenagers.

Everything about this cosy, comfortable and decadent beach retreat has been designed with luxury in mind, from the iPad and SONOS sound system to the Egyptian cotton bedlinen. USB chargers are installed next to every bed, and there is even a second fridge/freezer for cold drinks at the end of a day on the beach.

Being right on the beach, most guests prefer to spend their time splashing in the waves, swimming, sunbathing, or scrambling up the dunes for which Camber is famed. That said, for parties who fancy the amenities of town, Rye is very close by, with its charming independent shops, galleries, and excellent restaurants. Even without a car, you can reach the cobbled streets of Rye or Hastings easily by bicycle or taking a local bus. Or just remain at home on the deck on an outdoor cushion with a book and a cup of coffee, gazing out over the calming blue sea.
