The detail

Filled with colour and an abundance of comfort, Tanhouse is a classic period weatherboard house typical of the region. Built in the 18th century and extended over the years, the house is a Grade II listed building which is situated down a quiet country lane, but close to the main amenities of Peasmarsh. This secluded picture-perfect house offers total peace and relaxation and is the perfect rural escape for up to 10 guests.

An eclectic mix of upcycled pieces and modern design, original art and authenticity intertwine inside this homely country house. Literary enthusiasts will be in their element at Tanhouse with a wide range of classic and modern books lining the shelves in the library. The attention to detail in every room is immaculate; at night, you can sink into comfortable sofas in front of a roaring log fire whilst watching the horses graze in the field opposite, or sit on the veranda and watch the sun set whilst enjoying the best of the excellent local wines.

The kitchen centres around a contemporary Everhot range. It offers a microwave and integrated dishwasher in the kitchen and an American-style refrigerator with an ice maker and filtered water dispenser, a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the adjacent utility room. Complimentary Charles Palmer wine will await you in the fridge and Pinkster Gin and Fever-Tree tonic water, Nespresso coffee machine and pods, a selection of premium local produce and seasonal freshly cut flowers will provide a warm welcome to your holiday.

There are five stylish bedrooms in total, one with a super-king size bed and ensuite shower room, whilst the four further bedrooms share the family bathroom with an elegant freestanding roll-top bath and shower. Three of these bedrooms offer king size beds and one has a double bed. The sumptuous bedding and relaxing décor will ensure the most restful of sleeps. There is also a handy separate WC on the ground floor.

Outside, there is a manicured and fully dog-proof garden with a heated swimming pool making the most of all-day sunshine. Comfortable outdoor seating and Lutyens benches with garden and pond views are lovely spots to enjoy warm croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice on the terrace, lunch in the shade of the covered veranda and balmy starlit evenings spent chatting late into the night. A fire pit, BBQ and Ooni pizza oven give the option to cook alfresco and really make the most of the outdoor space.

With a large selection of walks straight from the door, Tanhouse is a haven for ramblers and cyclists of all abilities. Set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty, the coastal beaches of Camber, Rye Harbour and Winchelsea are a mere 15 minutes away and in only half an hour by car, you will find no end of interesting things to do and see. Bodiam Castle, Battle Abbey and Herstmonceaux Castle are perfect for history buffs and kids alike.
