The detail

Set in private woodland in the beautiful countryside of East Sussex, Evergreen Cabin offers an off-grid escape from the hustle and bustle. Built from shipping containers and using recycled materials, care has been taken to reduce its impact on the environment and it's now powered using solar energy. This unique, two-storey structure, surrounded by pine trees and with its own hot tub, is the perfect spot to get away from it all. Spend your days enjoying long walks through the countryside, visiting seaside towns on Sussex’s coast or exploring the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Back at the cabin, tuck into dinner amongst the trees in the alfresco dining spot before taking a dip in the hot tub under the stars.

The interior of the cabin has been styled in a contemporary way that complements its origin as shipping containers. You’ll find corrugated iron ceilings and a beautiful metal spiral staircase alongside stylish porthole windows and the old container doors breaking up the space. Downstairs, you’ll find a cosy living area to one end where you can snuggle up with a view of the trees and a little reading nook with an armchair. At the other end, sits the well-equipped kitchen with a bar and stools lined up along a big window.

Head upstairs to find the two comfy bedrooms and the bathroom. Both of the bedrooms feature luxurious king size beds and big windows looking out over the surrounding trees. It almost has the feel of being in a treehouse and you can relax with a cup of tea in the mornings and soak up the scenery from the comfort of your bed.

Outside, there’s a large deck where you can enjoy sunny afternoons reading a book in one of the deck chairs. The hot tub is perfect for soothing any aching legs after a long walk in the countryside and is particularly magical after sunset when the stars start to appear above the trees. There’s a fire pit so you can enjoy the outdoors late into the evenings, toasting marshmallows or even cooking dinner over the open flames.

Evergreen Cabin is located in the heart of the East Sussex countryside with plenty of exploring to do in the area. For long scenic walks or bike rides, head to the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park or to Seven Sisters for spectacular sea views. The historic town of Lewes is nearby with a medieval castle and lots of independent shops to peruse. Brighton is just a little bit further with its bustling seafront, the famous Lanes and a great selection of pubs and restaurants.
