Enjoy all the rural charm of Sussex in this bespoke, super-comfy cabin. This beautiful, eco-friendly retreat is perfect for the whole family and kids will love running around the beautiful surrounding fields whilst the adults enjoy a glass of wine by the firepit.
The cabin itself has been lovingly hand-built by local craftsmen, making use of recovered oak and larch as well as some plywood. The design was inspired by the A-frame cabins located across the American frontier and the designers have even added a large triangular window to let you enjoy the view! The cabin also has its own character thanks to the mixed tones of the beautiful herringbone flooring, the recycled wooden headboard and the fantastic feature wall that continues the triangle motif.
The cabin’s stylish kitchen is nicely equipped to help make meal prep a breeze and features a double burner gas-stove top, fridge, large sink and plenty of storage and surface space. After dinner relax in the lounge space, which has a clean-burning stove and a comfy leather sofa that looks out through the bifolding doors at the wonderful view. Slide the doors open in summer and let that fresh air in, extending your living space out onto the sun deck.
The sun deck is raised above the fields and is the ideal spot for your morning coffee or evenings spent enjoying a delicious drink as the sun sets. And just down from the deck is a huge field where kids and adults can play alike. You also have the aforementioned outdoor firepit where you can toast marshmallows and there’s even a hammock for lazy afternoons reading or snoozing.
Back inside, when bedtime beckons, the cabin features two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a comfy king size bed and storage for bags as well as a fantastic picture window that frames the lovely views. Then, there’s a hidden bunk room that can sleep two kids or adults up to six feet tall. The bathroom features a fully tiled shower and a top-of-the-range composting toilet, with no smells and no wasted water! This helps you reduce the impact of your weekend away on the natural environment.
The Vacationist sits on a private meadow that offers you fantastic access to the stunning South Downs and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. That means you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to long hill walks and days exploring picturesque countryside. You’re also a short drive from the Sussex coast and nicely located for charming rural pubs and quaint Sussex market towns.

Leave a reviewWe had an amazing 2 night stay at the Vacationist with my wife and two children. I believe we were the first guests to book on its opening and I would highly recommend to both families and couples. The interior is beautifully done with loads of great touches. Really exciting hidden room for the children (won’t ruin the surprise) and a comfy double bed for us. The location is nice and secluded but with good places to eat and visit in striking distance. Also a great kitchen. We stayed in the summer but can see it would nice and cosy in the winter with the stove. 5 stars!!!
