Tucked away in the heart of the beautiful East Sussex countryside, you’ll find these beautiful hand-built shepherds' huts. Located on a 200-acre family farm, the huts are set in a glade in the woods, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. The huts have been built with an eco-conscious mindset, using reclaimed, recycled and locally sourced materials where possible. Spend your days exploring the countryside on foot or by bike or by catching a ferry ride down the river. You’ll be able to wander through the orchards to visit the local pub and the spectacular Bodiam Castle. Alternatively, put your feet up in front of the campfire and enjoy the peace and quiet.
You’ll find two sites on the farm, each with five shepherds' huts. Four of these huts can accommodate up to five people while the fifth is the wash hut. This means that each of the sites on the farm sleep a total of 20 guests in four huts. There is also space for an additional bell tents or camping pitches that can be added on to offer extra accommodation should you wish to bring some extra guests with you.
All of the huts have been cleverly designed and are fully equipped with everything you’ll need, there’s even a linen service provided. They are easy to convert from day-use to sleeping accommodation with the dining table becoming a double bed and the day bed transforming into bunk beds.
You can choose to cook inside using the gas hob or get the full experience by cooking outdoors over the fire pit. A starter pack of logs and kindling is provided, along with cast iron cookware, specifically designed for cooking over fire. You can also arrange for hampers of local produce to be waiting for you in your hut on your arrival.
With the huts’ environmental impact in mind, they are not connected to a mains electric supply, instead they each have solar panels on the roof to provide power for lighting. If it gets chilly in the evening, there’s a gas heater provided and there’s also a sink with running water. You’ll find a hot water supply in the wash hut with two loos, basins and two showers.
There's also a shop and cafe on the farm where you’ll find locally sourced products to take back to the huts or you can drop in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake after a long walk in the surrounding countryside. The café is also fully licensed and has a great cocktail list. It also offers meeting rooms and can cater for larger groups making it ideal for corperate bookings.
When it comes to exploring the farm, there is a mile of river frontage on the site with an outdoor activities centre offering paddle boarding, kayaking, Mega SUP’s, archery and axe throwing. The activities centre also offers team building activities and kids clubs. You also have the opportunity for self launch of water craft, wild swimming and course fishing.
You're also located in vineyard country, meaning you can arrange vineyard tours and experiences within easy walking distance.
The huts are ideally located for exploring East Sussex with plenty of things to see and do. You can walk to the magnificent 14th century Bodiam Castle in under 20 minutes and take a picnic to enjoy in the grounds. You can head out into the surrounding countryside for long walks, bike rides or even have a go at horse riding. For a more leisurely way to explore the landscape, hop on a steam train at the nearby Rother Valley Railway or catch a ride down the river on the ferry.
There's even a great pub nearby that is just an easy walk across the farm away!
