Set in three acres of rolling fields and wildflower meadows, this bespoke shepherd’s hut makes a wonderful rural retreat for couples looking for a relaxing break. Beautifully handcrafted from reclaimed wood, the delightful hut has everything you need for an unforgettable stay, and more. The accommodation is complete with a woodfired bath, where you can have a romantic soak under the stars.
The thoughtful hosts will be on hand to answer any questions and even provide a welcome hamper on your arrival, full of homegrown produce and fresh eggs from the resident hens.
The Lodge's cosy interior is well furnished and tastefully decorated with elegant fabrics and lots of personal touches. Guests enter into a surprisingly spacious living area with two comfy, retro chairs to relax in and a log burner to keep the hut nice and toasty (you’ll be supplied with enough logs for your stay). The kitchenette is well equipped with a gas hob, kettle, mini fridge and coffee machine - perfect for preparing those fresh eggs for breakfast.
When it’s time to unwind, a luxurious double bed is waiting in a cosy nook at one end of the hut. A 3000-spring mattress with super soft bed linen will ensure a sound night’s sleep, and you can wake up to a great view out of the window opposite the bed. At the other end is the bathroom with a flushing toilet, washbasin and hot shower. Natural toiletries, fluffy towels and robes are also provided.
Outside, you’ll find a lovely seating area overlooking the gorgeous countryside, where guests can light the fire pit and toast marshmallows or cook up dinner on the grill and dine al fresco. The woodfired bath sits on a decked platform and is the best place to relax and enjoy the scenery. You’ll also have access to a lovely private pond, where you can try out wild swimming if you’re feeling adventurous.
The nearest village Thorpe Le Soken is within walking distance and has a good selection of traditional country pubs where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat. If you’re travelling by car then the town of Colchester is within a 30-minute drive and has a vibrant town centre with plenty of shops, bars and eateries, as well as a famous Norman Castle and park. You’ll also be perfectly located for a trip to the seaside. Beaches at Frinton on Sea, Walton on the Naze, Clacton and Holland on Sea are all within a 15 minute drive. And finally, the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also nearby and offers some wonderful scenic walks and fabulous countryside to be exlpored.
