Looking like the quintessential English holiday cottage, Golden Fleece is a magnificent detached brick house with a grand and historic architectural bearing. The property has now renovated to include the luxuries and comforts of the twenty first century. Easily capable of accommodating up to eight guests across two floors, Golden Fleece is the ultimate countryside getaway for family reunions, jaunts with old friends, or wedding parties looking to stay in style.
Golden Fleece benefits from an expansive downstairs open plan kitchen-cum-dining-room, complete with an aga, the ultimate mainstay for rural charm and cosiness. For casual group breakfasts or more formal celebratory evening meals, the large table is a perfect gathering-place, while the sunroom coming off this space is a truly unique and special addition. Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to get some work done, catch up with an old friend, or while away a few hours in the morning with your book, the sunroom is a really special spot, that offers great views. On the same floor you'll find a large sitting room with comfortable furniture for the whole family. As well as a fireplace for long winter evenings, the sitting room also has a flat-screen television for film nights.
The first of the bedrooms is on this floor, made up with a king-sized bed, and you'll also find a family style bathroom. There is also access to the beautifully maintained garden, with a lawn, mature trees and various shrubs and flowers. This space is beautiful in all four seasons, and benefits from a combination of direct sunlight and dappled shade, perfect for picnics in the summer.
Upstairs, the other three bedrooms boast great views over the gardens and in one case the Mendip Hills. There is a twin room, a room with a double bed, and a third bedroom with a versatile Super King which can also be set up as twin singles, as well as a second family bathroom.
With its duck egg blue aga and sun-filled conservatory, Golden Fleece really is a joy to inhabit. The kitchen has been designed with family-style large communal meals in mind, and is a real treat to cook in, whether you're whipping up a hearty breakfast for eight before heading out or preparing a celebratory meal as part of wedding festivities.
Golden Fleece sits on Pennard Hill Farm, which means that guests have access to an array of shared facilities. These include a fabulous heated indoor swimming pool and an array of beauty treatments that can be enjoyed on-site.
Being so close to Shepton Mallet, Golden Fleece is ideal for trips into this quaint and charming market town, with its numerous eateries, independent shops and historic architecture. From a lido to a cider and perry brewery, a caving adventure park to a prison museum, there are endless activities for couples, families and friends. You're also easy day-tripping distance to Bristol, Glastonbury and Wells Cathedral City.
