Keepers Cottage is tucked away in the secluded hamlet of Fontmell Parva, a totally private site enclosed by miles of unspoilt Dorset countryside. The accommodation consists of a holiday cottage for six and a detached two-bedroom barn conversion, making it ideal for large families and groups of friends. The wonderful location offers guests far-reaching views of the idyllic surroundings and the bridleway in front of the property provides direct access to the adjoining countryside, ready to be explored on foot or by bike.
The traditional redbrick cottage once formed part of the Fontmell Parva Estate. Newly renovated, it expertly combines traditional design with contemporary touches and high-end amenities. The cottage is full of lovely spots to socialise and relax, including three reception rooms. One of these is an inviting sitting room with a comfy sofa and armchairs, kept warm and cosy all year round by a stone fireplace. Another is the light and airy conservatory that leads to the well-sized garden, where you’ll also find an alfresco dining terrace, BBQ and fire pit.
The main house boasts a modern kitchen with spacious worktops and state-of-the-art appliances, such as a Lacanche range cooker, and is a real joy to cook in. Adjacent to the kitchen is an elegant dining area where the whole group can gather and share delicious meals together that stretch long into the night. After dinner, when bedtime beckons head upstairs and you’ll find the three double suites, each with a sumptuous mattress and extra crisp bed linen to guarantee you and your loved ones a peaceful night's sleep. The bedrooms all share three bathrooms, one with a bathtub for relaxing soaks and two shower rooms. The detached barn has been redesigned into a stylish two-bedroom annexe with a shower room, providing perfect space for guests wanting a bit more peace and privacy.
Avid walkers will be delighted to hear that there is a plethora of footpaths and trails right on your doorstep. Venturing east will lead you to Cranborne Chase stretching towards Salisbury, and The Blackmore Vale lies to the west. If you want to stock up on holiday supplies or fancy a drink and a bite to eat, the neighbouring village of Child Okeford is just over a mile away. Also nearby is the charming town of Blandford Forum, whilst the cathedral city of Salisbury and the famous Stonehenge are also within reach.
