Tucked away in half an acre of private woodland in the New Forest, Moonwood House is perfect for large families or groups of friends looking for a relaxing escape to the countryside. With elegant interiors and a beautifully designed garden, complete with a six metre swim spa, it’s the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle. After a long bike ride through the National Park or an afternoon strolling through the beautiful village of Beaulieu, enjoy a cocktail in the garden surrounded by trees and pretty planting or put your feet up in front of the wood burner in the stylish living room.
The interior is a contemporary mix of Scandi minimalism and the relaxed chic of the Hamptons. The bright and airy kitchen-diner is the social hub of the house with high vaulted ceilings and rooflights letting in plenty of natural light. There’s a big island in the middle, perfect for entertaining or for giving the cook a hand with preparing dinner. After dinner, move through to the living room where you can sink into big comfy sofas in front of a fire crackling away in the log burner.
There are four bedrooms across the first and second floors. You’ll find the ensuite master bedroom with its impressive dressing room and the second bedroom with its king size four-poster bed on the first floor. Head upstairs again and there are two more king size rooms, one of which can be made up as a twin, and a family bathroom. You’ll find the fifth bedroom in the Garden Studio with another king size bed and an ensuite, ideal if you’re travelling with extended family or friends who might want a bit of space to themselves.
Outside, the half acre of grounds is secured by fencing, so pets and young children are free to explore. There’s a grassy area, perfect for games, a courtyard where you can enjoy a relaxed cup of coffee outside and an area around the swim spa which is perfect for entertaining. Here, you’ll find a pizza oven, space for dining, sun loungers and an outdoor sofa, everything you need to enjoy a lazy afternoon in the sunshine.
Moonwood House is located in the charming village of Beaulieu in the heart of the New Forest. Head into the village to visit the National Motor Museum and its impressive collection of iconic cars and motorcycles or explore the gardens and well-preserved ruins of the 13th century Beaulieu Abbey. When it comes to outdoor activities, you’ll find yourselves spoilt for choice in the New Forest with plenty of routes for walking, cycling and horse riding on your doorstep. Learn about the conservation efforts in the National Park at the New Forest Wildlife Park or the Longdown Activity Farm. For a more leisurely way to explore the area and soak up the scenery, there are boat tours on the Beaulieu River.
