Hidden away in a beautiful Cotswolds valley, George’s Getaway is a relaxing rural retreat, perfect for families or groups. Formerly a stables and chicken coop on Winchcombe Farm, a recent renovation has resulted in a luxurious lodge which sleeps six inside (four adults and two children) and an extra two adults in the geodesic dome outside. A private hot tub and a charcoal pizza oven promise many happy days enjoying the outdoors with some stunning scenery. When the sun sets you can stargaze from the comfort of a super king-size bed in the geodesic dome.
Inside, you’ll find the master bedroom at one end of the lodge and a family suite at the other. The sumptuous king-size master bedroom features twin freestanding bathtubs, the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the Cotswolds. The family suite consists of another king-size bedroom, featuring a corner bath and a twin room connected by a two door bathroom. The twin room is suitable for children and there’s a handy window through from the double that means you can check on the kids without the risk of waking them.
In the spacious living area, a 55” TV and board games will keep you entertained on rainy days. Dinner time is a breeze thanks to the brand new and well-equipped kitchen, complete with SMEG appliances and Joseph Joseph accessories. You’ll also find a welcome basket waiting for you on arrival to start you off with fresh milk, fruit and cake.
The living room enjoys stunning views of the surrounding countryside through the big French doors. Step through these onto the expansive decking area which is a peaceful haven for soaking up the sunshine, some alfresco dining and relaxing in the seven-seater hot tub. Steps lead up from the deck to a higher platform where you’ll find the geodesic dome. This features a circular super king-size bed and a telescope so you can enjoy a spot of stargazing in comfort. This is also the perfect vantage point for catching a glimpse of some of the local wildlife such as deer, herons and even red kites.
Guests are free to explore the private estate and there are some stunning walking routes in the rolling countryside surrounding Winchcombe Farm. There are also some charming towns and villages to explore such as Stow on the Wold and Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare. The magnificent Blenheim Palace and the historic Warwick Castle are both worth a visit, as is the Cotswold Wildlife Park. After a day exploring, return to George’s Getaway for a dip in the hot tub and lie back under the stars.
