Right on the shores of the beach at Rhosneigr, a charming, sleepy village on the picturesque Welsh island of Anglesey, Sandy Mount House is a bar and restaurant with hotel-style rooms available for guests looking to explore the Welsh coast in comfort and style. Benefitting from the same chic and coastal aesthetic which is celebrated throughout the bar and dining room, the rooms at Sandy Mount House represent the perfect space for some downtime in Anglesey, whether your mood be romantic, outdoorsy, cultural or culinary.
The rooms are spacious and charming, infused with an unmistakably coastal vibe, and offer comfortable furniture and staggering views to all who stay. While all share the beach house style aesthetic which permeates the establishment as a whole, the seven bedrooms each have their own distinct identity and character.
Sandy Mount House brings together the cosy, log fire and local ales atmosphere of the British country pub with world-class cooking in a stunning coastal space. Award winning head chef Hefin Roberts has put together a brilliant menu which champions local flavours and ingredients, bringing them into the twenty first century with novel twists and tweaks.
Whatever the time of year, you can be sure that everything on your plate is in season and has been locally sourced where feasible, resulting in a local meal which nourishes and delights. As well as lunch and dinner, feel free to pop into the dining room at Sandy Mount House for coffee, cakes, or lighter snacks throughout the day. With local ales on tap, an abundance of good cheer, and excellent coast views, the bar at Sandy Mount House is popular with locals and guests alike, and as you step inside you’ll realise why.
Renovated in 2018, Sandy Mount House has existed in various forms since the start of the twentieth century when it was built. It has a rich cultural history, including a spell when it was managed by the last remaining survivor of the prison camp escape dramatised in The Great Escape. Indeed, Sandy Mount House even has its own chapter in Tim Hale’s book about Rhosneigr. Anglesey is a paradise for lovers of the outdoors, with its miles of hidden gem coastline, its rugged, beautiful sea, and its wooded, hilly interior. Rhosneigr enjoys a reputation for having a laid back, island-life atmosphere, and its also where a lot of artists tend to congregate. Popular with visitors from all over the UK and beyond, the villages of Anglesey are truly unforgettable, imbued with a magic which locals and tourists alike find utterly beguiling.
