You can book your luxury bedroom at the hub of the property or rent an apartment or private house still in the Villa Lena estate and you get more than just a relaxing escape in the Tuscan hills. This dreamlike place is also a base for artists, and their work is subtly woven into the whole experience.
The super stylish accommodation features vintage furniture set against whitewashed walls and terracotta tiles. Each airy, bright space celebrates the original features, and blends informality with the unmistakable touch of an experienced designer. There are six buildings spread over 500 hectares. Sizes vary, from double luxury bedrooms, to a Villa with a four ensuite bedrooms.
To be at the heart of the action, choose Fattoria and San Michele, now home to the main reception, lounge, and screening and games rooms. Renacchi is a short walk away, and its five apartments (with 2 or 3 bedrooms) playground and pool are perfect for families.
Larger groups can enjoy Casetta Bella & Maison Stento, 20 min walking distance from the hub of the property. Casetta Bella is a secluded house with three bedrooms with a self-contained kitchen and a large bathroom. Casetta Bella shares a pool with Maison Stento, and has four ensuite bedrooms with a large ground floor, with a kitchen and living area.
At the hub of the property they also have Osteria San Michele, the farm to table restaurant where long communal tables overlook the breathtaking view. Unsurprisingly, the food is glorious. As well as pizzas from the wood fired oven, the restaurant serves traditional and revisited Tuscan cuisine using local produce, much of it from the estate’s vegetable garden.
At the centre of it all, the 19th century villa is home to artists from around the world taking part in the Villa Lena residential art foundation.
Guests coming at Villa Lena can enjoy a daily program of activities, which include:
- Food experiences, such as truffle hunting, pasta workshops and forage & cook classes.
- Creativity workshop with artists in residency.
- Yoga lessons in the inside yoga studio and outdoor deck.
For groups the owners can create a customised program of activities and special dinners.
Of course, being in the heart of Tuscany is a highlight in itself. The iconic towns of Florence and Pisa are within reach, as are San Gimignano, Lucca and Volterra.
The Villa Lena shop sells the estate’s own wine, olive oil and sparkling rosè, as well as covetable art and commissioned objects from the artists and local craftspeople. So you even get to take a piece of this idyllic life home with you.
