Romantics, artists, nature lovers and peace seekers will all be enchanted by this delightful historic cabin tucked away on a private corner of a stunning Scottish estate.
It was built in the 1890s as a painting studio for the then Earl of Leven, a keen water colourist and photographer, and now visitors can also enjoy this cosy lodge and its spectacular surroundings.
Start the day with coffee on the porch which hosts two armchairs, a large stock of logs for the fire pit and spectacular views which will keep guests occupied for days. Green fields stretch out to the forest-edged horizon and the wild River Findhorn bends into the background. Read, sketch and observe or lean back, with the rays on the face, and nap in the fresh air.
This comfortable and stylish lodge is cosy and inviting. A king sized bed sits centre stage beautifully styled with cosy bedding and a marvellous fabric canopy overhead. With views from the many windows of the spectacular landscape, guests would be forgiven for spending hours relaxing between the sheets. Beside the bed, a hammock provides a further lounging option and what could be more relaxing than lying back with a good book and swaying gently in the sunlight?
The abundance of windows inside the cabin ensures guests never miss a moment of the beautiful surroundings, whatever the weather. Hunker down in the hut with a mug of hot chocolate and watch the weather move across the landscape until it is fit to venture outside once more.
At meal times, there is a cooker, fridge and microwave for preparing simple suppers and easy breakfasts which stretch late into the morning. A wooden dining table has space for two to enjoy memorable meals and the unforgettable views.
When night falls, be sure to head outside to enjoy the majestic, unpolluted night skies. Take the armchairs from the porch and keep warm by the roaring firepit.
Guests can wander the estate at will, there are 26 miles of paths which wind through the fabulous forests of Caledonian Pine and Redwoods, look out for the local wildlife from red squirrels to Ospreys. Try a spot of fly fishing on the River Findhorn, which also has many pretty picnic spots too, and cyclists will love to explore the many bike trails.
After a day exploring, head to The Kimberley Inn at Findhorn for excellent seafood, a few drinks and a warm welcome.
