Callie Bothy is a beautifully designed and hand-built cabin with luxury amenities, nestled in a peaceful and remote woodland location. This is a perfect retreat for a couple seeking the tranquility of nature with all the perks of a luxury hotel suite and more.
The cabin has a Scandinavian aesthetic and it's clear a great deal of skill and care has been invested in the creation of this stunning getaway. Built using sustainable materials, the interior has been decorated in soothing greys and greens creating a welcoming and comfortable home from home. Spacious and light, the furniture is hand-made and thoughtfully placed.
The living room has a large comfortable sofa and a dining table for two has been set by the french doors overlooking the lush woodland outside. A wood burner is perfectly placed to keep you toasty and cosy as you enjoy a romantic meal before snuggling up on the sofa to chat, drink wine or read a good book. There's a wide selection of board games, books and maps for you to peruse and the owners have thoughtfully provided binoculars and wildlife guides so you can make the most of the abundant wildlife that surrounds you.
The kitchen, like all of the cabin, is custom made and fully equipped for preparing and cooking any wonderful produce you've picked up from the local farm shops. The owners have provided Fairtrade coffee beans, organic teas, sugar and basic condiments.
The bathroom is a particular delight with a designer bath and separate rain shower with a glazed door leading to the outside area. Depending on the weather you can take a hot shower and look out on the blustery wilderness or have the door open and feel like you're showering in the open. The place is remote so no fear of anyone seeing you in the all together! Underfloor heating and a whole range of fabulous toiletries and beauty products complete this treat of a room.
When it's time to sleep you'll find a handmade king-size bed with organic cotton bed linen and a goose down duvet, perfect for dozing off in whilst listening to the sounds of nature.
Outside Callie Bothy you'll find everything you could possibly need for an extra special holiday. A wrap-around deck leads to a wood-fired hot tub and fire pit over looking a large wildlife pond. Grab a bottle of something delicious and sink into the warm water whilst the Mosso Forno pizza oven heats up. Maybe get the Tuscan grill going too! Cook up a feast and enjoy your dinner al fresco as evening falls and the stars come out.
The cabin is located in the stunningly beautiful Pluscarden Valley situated between the historic towns of Forres and Elgin. It's peaceful and sparsely populated with a single track road which twists and turns following the black burn which then flows into the river Lossie.
If you want to explore further afield the Moray coast is to the north with pretty villages, sandy beaches, cliffs and caves. The Moray Firth is home to a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins and you can take a boat trip to get a closer look or visit the Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay.
To the south is the Cairngorm National Park offering watersports, snowsports, walking and cycling. The nearby Rothiemurchus estate offers many activities plus an excellent farm shop.
Moray is home to the world's only Malt Whisky Trail and Speyside has the greatest concentration of malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. The area also boasts many craft breweries and artisan gin producers. You'll never tire of exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. And at the end of the day you can head back to you very own cabin in the woods and luxuriate.

Leave a reviewMy Partner booked this for a birthday treat away in August. What Allie and Phil have done with The Callie Bothy is special. From the layout, the interior and welcome bag to the outdoor facilities which were the perfect added touches for this retreat, the natural surroundings and the general feel of the cabin was just fantastic. everything was spotless, there is a real subtle sense of attention to detail and I am glad there is no TV because you certainly don't need it when you are breathing in fresh air and indulging in self care. A super way to relax and reset!

My husband and I had a fabulous stay at Callie Bothy. The environment, the interiors and the location meant we had the most relaxing time.

The Callie Bothy is beautiful both inside and out. The interior is simply and tastefully decorated with luxury fabrics and high quality appliances and is spotless. Everything looked new. We had fun working out how to use the Japanese coffee filter, well worth it as the organic freshly ground beans tasted delicious. The views from every room are spectacular. The bathroom is big and modern and the rain shower and giant bath tub add to the spa feel. We hopped straight out the outside hot tub into the shower or bath and with the door and window opened we still felt like we were outside. You truly feel you are at one with nature. We didn't have great weather but it didn't stop us using the hot tub, outdoor cooking facilities and fire pit. Spent the mornings browsing the interesting selection of books, the afternoons exploring the local area and the evenings in the hot tub, cooking delcious food outside and playing scrabble. Didn't miss the TV at all but if you want the wifi is good enough to stream programmes. The decking is surrounded by wild flowers and it was blissful bathing in the hot tub watching the trees sway and watching and listening to the birds. The pond is also delightful. We loved it so much we booked an extra night and can't wait to go back. Thanks Allie and Phil (and for the extra wood!)
