This gothic 19th century gate-house truly one of a kind. Built within the walls of Gwrych Castle in North Wales, it's been thoughtfully restored to create an utterly romantic fairytale hideaway for two.
Inside you'll find beautifully preserved architecture, luxurious touches and a wealth of original features. Examine the front door and you can make out faint carvings of sailing ships, possibly etched by Napoleonic prisoners of war.
Inside, the living area is contains a handsome stone fireplace with wood-burning stove, perfect for warming your toes at the end of the day. There's a dining area for two, a Chesterfield sofa and you'll also find an original bread oven set into the chimney breast. Don't worry though, you won't have to bake your own bread - there's a smart modern kitchen with proper oven and hob, butler's sink and everything you need to whip up a delicious dinner.
A gorgeously ornate mahogany staircase leads you to the first floor and its spacious bathroom. This features a deep, free-standing bathtub, perfect for long indulgent soaks. You'll also find an original Thomas Crapper toilet cistern, a wonderful historic touch.
Head up to the second floor and the opulent bedroom. The centrepiece is the fabulous hand-carved Tudor-style four-poster bed, dressed with a rich velvet counterpane. A morning cup of tea in bed will never have felt so grand.
Hen Wrych Hall Tower sits within the grounds of Grade I listed Gwrych Castle and overlooks the 500-year-old Hen Wrych Hall, amid beautiful gardens and grounds. It's a breathtaking location, with the sea just a five minute stroll away, and the spacious beach of Traeth Pensarn to explore.
Beyond there are shops, pubs and places to eat in the little coastal town of Abergele. Within a short drive, nearby attractions include golf courses, the beautiful Bodnant Gardens, plenty of historic castles and the lovely Victorian seaside town of Llandudno.
