Learn moreTransport yourself to the wonderful wilds of Snowdonia where bleating ewes, verdant mosses, running brooks and ancient woodland hark back to a simple life where time seems to stand still. With stunning views over North Wales and set among 25 acres, Garth Gell Farmhouse is a true back-to-basics, cosy experience with no mod cons, screens or electronics to distract you from precious time with family and friends.
Carefully renovated to the highest standards by professional conservation architects, all the original features have been kept and the decor has been simply and tastefully curated with period furniture and custom-printed natural fabrics. TVs, washing machines, hairdryers and electric kettles all have no place here… even the mobile signal is patchy! What you get with your enchanting family stay in Snowdonia is an experience like no other. Hot water runs from the oil-filled Aga, while you need to heat your bath via the woodburning stove. The water supply comes directly from the Welsh hills, while solar panels provide electricity to power the small fridge freezer and the lamps which create a cosy, intimate atmosphere.
As you enter Garth Gell Farmhouse, you’re immediately taken by the exposed wooden beams, uneven whitewashed walls and traditional slate floors. Upstairs, dark wooden floorboards create a cosy and enclosed atmosphere - your welcoming sanctuary decorated in gentle colours, with Welsh blankets and wonderful fabrics and large windows which bring the outside in, giving incredible views of the surrounding hills. Four bedrooms have space for up to six people in rustic comfort, with double beds and twin singles suitable for kids and adults alike.
The faithful oil-fired Aga provides comforting warmth and is perfect for creating simple meals morning, noon and night, while during the warmer weather, the outdoor fire pit and grill are there to cook and dine alfresco as the sun goes down over the idyllic landscape.
Nature and adventure are right on your doorstep. Stroll through ancient woodland, scale spectacular peaks and swim in clear rivers. In the evening, the George III pub is a short walk down the valley and over the beautiful Mawddach Estuary; perfect after a day spent exploring stunning beaches, crabbing and fishing, paddle boarding, horse riding or bird watching. For adrenaline lovers, summit Snowdon or check out Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre, Surf Snowdonia, Zip World and the water sports offered at Bala Lake. See the magnificent scenery of Snowdonia National Park from the comfort of a gleaming vintage steam train on The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway, or explore the plethora of castles and beaches in Wales.
