This beautiful 18th century farmhouse, set near Northumberland’s stunning coast, was once part of the mill farm of Haggerston Castle. It has been carefully renovated, retaining the building’s original character, and many original features have been restored, such as the impressive inglenook fireplaces and stately sash windows. These now sit alongside luxurious furnishings and a whole range of modern comforts, not to mention a cinema room, a games room and a bar. The rural location means you’ll be able to wake up to the sounds of the countryside before heading out to explore the majestic Lindisfarne or Bamburgh Castle. In the evenings, enjoy a cold glass of something out on the patio before cosying up by the fire in the farmhouse's charming living room.
Step inside and you’ll find that the farmhouse has been beautifully furnished in a style that blends the traditional character of the house with contemporary elegance. The large kitchen features a Rangemaster cooker and a wine fridge and there’s plenty of room for everyone around the big wooden dining table, perfect for evenings in with friends and family. After dinner, choose between relaxing in the large sitting room, putting a movie on in the cinema room, challenging your companions to a game of snooker in the games room or enjoying a drink at the bar. If you fancy a quiet moment to yourself, there’s also a cosy snug where you can curl up with a good book in front of the wood burner.
All of the bedrooms are located upstairs and have been furnished to create luxurious and relaxing spaces with comfy mattresses promising a good night’s sleep. Stairs leading up from the sitting room take you up to two bedrooms that share a family shower room, making a lovely family suite. Another staircase takes you up to the other bedrooms from the entrance hall. On the first floor, you’ll find two rooms with sumptuous super-king size beds and a bunk room that’s perfect for both kids and adults. There’s also a large bathroom with a slipper bath where you can relax after a long walk along the coast. Head up another set of steps and you’ll find another two bedrooms that can be set up with super-king or twin beds, offering plenty of flexibility for groups.
When the sun is shining, open up the bi-fold doors in the living room and make the most of the large garden. Enjoy your meals alfresco on the pretty patio surrounded by rose bushes and watching games of giant chess, Jenga and croquet being played out on the lawn. Step outside for a cup of coffee first thing and you might be rewarded with a glimpse of deer or hares in the surrounding fields.
Brockmill Farmhouse is perfectly located for exploring Northumberland’s stunning coastline. Lace up your walking boots or hop on your bike and explore the trails through the countryside and along the coast. The stunning Holy Island of Lindisfarne and its magnificent 16th century castle is only a few miles away, accessible via a causeway at low tide. Just a little further down the coast, you’ll find the golden sands of Bamburgh Beach with Bamburgh Castle providing a majestic backdrop. You can also get a boat trip from Seahouses out to the Farne Islands to spot seals and watch seabirds in their natural habitat.
