An appealing combination of cool, urban style and a dash of humour makes Hotel Daniel one of Vienna’s best finds. Repeating the success of its big brother in Graz, Daniel counts the impressive Schloss Belvedere and verdant Schweizer Garten among its closest neighbours.

Moments from the city’s main railway station, the convenience of Hotel Daniel’s central location isn’t the only thing to smile about. The hotel’s motto of ‘Smart Luxury’ sums the place up – and a quick glance to the rooftop (where you may spot something you wouldn’t expect) will tell you that Daniel does things its own way.

Chic rooms like Hammock and Belvedere deliver on size as well as facilities. You can expect a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and a gorgeous bathroom with raindance shower for starters and, in Belvedere, a fine view of the palatial royal residence of the same name.

Named in honour of its own extensive vistas, Panorama is light and bright with twin glass walls and a hammock complementing the spacious double bed. In addition to the perfectly styled Smart rooms, Daniel even has a 22ft trailer parked up in the garden – and some trailer it is too. Straight out of the 50s, with a free-standing bath and a whole lot more hidden behind that polished silver exterior, just shut the curtains and enjoy a little ‘life on the road’.

Serving up one of Vienna’s finest breakfast buffets, Daniel also boasts its own in-house bakery. It would be wrong to come to this great city and not sample a few pastries, and the hotel offers a welcoming setting to do just that – there’s real ambience at the Daniel. There’s more than cakes and desserts too, with a full menu of salads, burgers, sandwiches and internationally inspired mains which will satisfy you whenever you stop by – the kitchen keeps on cooking from morning until late.

At the perfect starting point for city exploration, the guys at Hotel Daniel will not just hand you a map… you can even hire a Vespa. If you prefer, you’re only 2 minutes away from the nearest tram stop, just part of Vienna’s highly integrated public transport system – bus, train or underground, it’s all satisfyingly efficient, but it won’t take you long to make your way to the sights on foot.

Dynamically blending old and new, Vienna is much than museums, opera and art. You’ll find the city’s creative side showcased in its shops and restaurants. Be sure to visit the Naschmarkt, the huge market where any foodie will be in their element. Excellent bars and coffee houses dotted throughout the city make stopping for a drink an event, while canal-side walks and countless parks add yet more charm to this stunning capital.

For an urban stay in Vienna you won’t forget, Daniel is the name to remember.
