Walltown Byre is a Northumberland cottage that combines contemporary style with the tradition and history of a building dating back to 1876.
Located in rural Northumberland in the heart of Roman wall country, Walltown Byre is a little over 10 miles from the town of Brampton and combines modern style with traditional rural charm. This comfy holiday cottage dates back to 1876 and is ideal for families or groups of friends looking to explore this lovely part of the UK.
Sleeping up to six guests, the property is set across one level and the interior is spacious and flooded with light. The open plan kitchen, living, and dining room is the social hub of the cottage and is superb for entertaining. The stylish and modern kitchen is fully equipped with all integrated appliances, including hob, oven, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher, as well as a large island which also operates as a breakfast bar. The washing machine and dryer is found in a separate utility room which leads through to a wet room with shower and WC.
The living area has lots of comfy sofas and armchairs along with a Smart TV, while the extendable dining table seating up to 12 guests is found through a brick archway and is brilliantly lit thanks to floor to ceiling windows. Elsewhere, leading off the hallway, is a cinema and games room boasting a table tennis table, electric piano, large sofa, cinema screen, and projector.
There are three bedrooms, all of which are en-suite. The first has a king size bed, window seat, and a bathroom with a large bath and shower overhead. The other two bedrooms have twin beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers. Heading outside reveals an enclosed gravelled courtyard at the front of Walltown Byre, which has a patio with outdoor furniture and enjoys views across the countryside of the North Pennines.
Although the property is self catering, an excellent private chef can be hired offering a wide selection of options. Alternatively there are a number of good pubs and restaurants within easy reach, with the Mile Castle pub, Greenhead Hotel, Samson Inn, and Blekinsopp Castle Inn and Bistro all coming recommended. Brampton and all it amenities is the closest town, while the historic city of Carlisle and market town of Hexham with its cobbled streets and independent shops are both 21 miles away.
