This fabulously quaint shepherd’s hut sits in a quiet corner of the Peak District National Park and offers couples a charming base for a romantic getaway. Outside, the hut has abundant charm and fits nicely in its scenic setting, whilst inside, it’s painted in heritage Farrow & Ball colours with a cosy wood-burning stove to keep you warm.
On warm days, leave the door open and breathe in that fresh country air as you enjoy a morning lie-in with a nice cup of coffee. The bed is super-comfy and is a full-size double with a sprung mattress and a goose down duvet, ensuring you can make the most of your tranquil surroundings and enjoy a near-perfect night’s sleep. On cooler days the wood-burner will keep you warm, however, you also have an additional electric heater, so your comfort is always ensured.
The hut also has a small bookcase that’s stocked with magazines and books for you to read alongside a small selection of board and card games. During your stay be at one with nature and forget the trappings of daily life. However, there is one small touch of technology at your disposal with the DAB radio, which offers you the chance to choose the backing music to your afternoons spent relaxing in style.
On top of all of this, the owners have also created a fabulous new space to enjoy. The old tree house, once used by their boys and tucked away in a private field with stunning views down into the village, has been given a charming makeover. Now, it offers a wonderful spot to enjoy breakfast, sip a morning coffee or relax with a gin on the deck as the sun sets and the solar lights begin to twinkle. You also have a lovely picnic bench outside the main hut, offering another spot to enjoy a hearty lunch with a view.
Also outside, guests will find a fire pit perfect for huddling around on clear nights, stargazing while enjoying a glass of wine, a beer or something warmer. At the back of the hut, there is a dedicated seating area with a BBQ available for use - just bring your own fuel. For those who’d rather dine out, there are plenty of excellent local eateries nearby, either within walking distance or just a short drive away.
The hosts have also provided a separate, fully-heated shower and utility room for you to use. Located 30 metres up the garden beside the house (up a short flight of stone steps), the space includes hot water, a sink, electric shower, toilet, heated towel rail and towels. It also features a kettle, crockery, cutlery and access to a fridge. Tea, coffee, and milk are available - guests are welcome to help themselves, as it’s all included in the stay.
A breakfast basket will be ready upon arrival, complete with a few extra treats. Guests can expect tea and coffee, granola, yoghurt with seasonal fruit, bread rolls, butter and either local honey or homemade preserves.
