This beautiful, hand-crafted artisan cabin was inspired by the owners’ love of literature. Playfully designed, the Book Nook offers couples a romantic retreat amidst peaceful natural surroundings.
The cabin sits on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, and when you arrive, you’ll adore the stunning nature all around. Think rolling hills, secret valleys and ancient forests. Then, when you step inside, you’ll fall in love with your tranquil abode. The ‘Beatrix’ living room, inspired by Beatrix Potter and Rupert the Bear, offers a pair of cosy armchairs and a log-burner (and a small basket of logs) for keeping you toasty and warm whatever the weather outside. Huge glass doors flood the space with natural light and connect you to the surrounding countryside as you unwind in style. To add to the magic, ‘book birds’ fly from the ceiling, beloved literary characters hide in corners and upcycled magic fills the space.
When tummies rumble head to the charming kitchen that is inspired by Brambly Hedge & The Wind in the Willows. Here, you can whip up delicious meals using the mini electric oven and some plug-in hobs, along with a kettle, toaster, microwave and small fridge/freezer. Dine inside at the quaint table for two, or take your meals outside on your peaceful deck overlooking rolling hills.
When night falls, head up the farm ladder to the mezzanine bedroom that's inspired by the work of Jane Austen, Emily Bronte and D.H Lawrence. Romantic and cosy, the bedroom has walls that pay homage to Penguin books, whilst the comfy bed ensures a good night’s sleep. Wake up and gaze out of the window at the hillsides through the bedside window before heading down to start the day. The bathroom, inspired by Enid Blyton's stories, features walls lined with her books and includes a shower, towel rail and all linen and towels are provided.
Step outside and you’ll find your own private deck - perfect for morning coffee or a glass of wine as the sun sets. There’s a covered outdoor seating area (with handy storage tucked beneath), a firepit for starlit evenings and an alfresco dining spot nestled in the garden. Peer out from the cabin and you’ll see rolling hills stretching into the distance – yours to explore via a magical entrance hidden behind a Narnian wardrobe.
The location is a dream for adventurers, with easy access to both moorland and coast. Guests also enjoy complimentary use of the estate’s tennis court, orchards, woodland trails and sweeping grounds. And to start things off right, you’ll arrive to some fresh farm eggs and milk.
