This utterly charming seaside retreat offers couples a fabulous base by the Cornish coast with incredible sea views thanks to its position on a rugged cliffside. Ankorya is a beautifully constructed home that was once a modest tea hut and has been lovingly transformed into a superb off-grid romantic retreat with modern interiors and a truly private setting.
When you arrive, you’ll be mesmerised by the incredible cliffside location. Ankorya sits overlooking the beach below, where you’ll spot the still-visible engine boiler of the shipwrecked vessel Chancellor, which ran aground in 1934. Bits of the wreck can still be spotted beneath the ever-shifting sands below you.
Relax in the charming living room, where a comfy sofa and armchair sit next to huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea. You’ll also find a TV here for movie nights and a pair of binoculars for spotting wildlife at play in the water. On summer days, slide open the glass doors and step out onto your peaceful garden where an alfresco dining table offers the perfect spot for a long lazy lunch. There are also a pair of sun loungers outside for afternoons spent unwinding with a good book or snoozing in the sunshine.
Back inside, the home’s kitchen is nicely designed, and is equipped with everything you’ll need to prepare tasty romantic meals during your stay. Ankorya is a peaceful little slice of heaven. The sound of the ocean waves provided the perfect reset for the soul, making our two-night stay feel truly restorative. It was the ideal getaway - and we honestly didn’t want to leave. I hope to be able to return one day.

Ankorya does not disappoint - the views are to die for and the cabin itself is beautifully presented with an exceptionally well equipped kitchen. The cabin is furnished to a very high standard and is very comfortable with incredible views from both the living area and bedroom. Due to the steep walk down to the property from the SW coastal path Ankorya feels incredibly secluded - it’s like your own slice of paradise. We were blessed with exceptional weather and spent most of our time in the attractive garden and on the beach. The walk to the beach is very steep but once you arrive you are treated to a beautiful expanse of golden sand at low tide and some of the clearest water I have had the pleasure of swimming in. The garden is secure for dogs and my two had a great time exploring the garden and going for walks along the beach. I will definitely be returning for another escape from the rat race at the earliest opportunity. The hosts were very helpful and directions to the property were spot on. As the description indicates the property is not suitable for anyone with any mobility issues and you need to pack as light as possible !!
