Choose from either of these tranquil group glamping sites in Dorset offering outdoor baths, cosy yurts, beautiful views and abundant wildlife.
If you’re looking for a peaceful group getaway in the beautiful Dorset countryside, then you should consider one of these two delightful glamp sites. Stock Gaylard offers up two collections of yurts, one of which sleeps 15 and the other 12, offering groups the chance to unwind together and be at one with nature. Both sites sit on the fabulous Stock Gaylard Estate, which stretches over 1,800 acres and offers a beautiful deer park, which you are welcome to roam.
Both of these glamp sites are surrounded by a working farm with cattle, sheep and arable fields. Each of these peaceful camps soak up incredible sunsets and offer front-row seats to some of Dorset’s most enchanting wildlife - think roe deer grazing at dusk, nightingales in spring and the call of owls under starry skies.
Withybed Yurts
Up first is Withybed Yurts, which is tucked beside a quiet farm track on the edge of the Deer Park at Stock Gaylard Estate. This is an off-grid glamping retreat full of rustic charm and natural magic. This yurt camp is facing west to maximise the stunning sunsets, which we are sure you will love during your stay.
The private site is nestled between two ancient woodlands, with a seasonal stream running below – the perfect backdrop for a digital detox with family or friends. There are three beautifully furnished yurts, as well as a large communal safari tent houses the dining and lounge area with a country-style dresser and cosy seating.
You’ll find a covered outdoor kitchen with a gas oven and solar-powered fridge, plus one of the site’s best-loved features: a bathtub under the stars and a wood-fired hot water system. This offers you and your loved ones the perfect place to unwind in true style, whilst taking in your incredible surroundings. There’s also a gas-powered shower for added convenience and a proper loo.
Brickles Yurts
Up next is Brickles Yurts. This south-facing camp site sleeps a total of 12 guests and offers panoramic views stretching across the Blackmore Vale towards the distant chalk downs of Bulbarrow.
There are three beautiful and cosy sleeping yurts on offer at Brickles as well as one living yurt where you can retire with a good book or catch up with a loved one. Guests can unwind outdoors together on a peaceful grassy spot or on the private patio with alfresco dining furniture and comfy seats arranged around a firepit. Light the flames and toast marshmallows as the stars come out above.
You’ll also find a compact covered kitchen with a gas oven and washing-up area, plus a flushing loo, small basin and a gas-powered shower. For something truly special, soak in the outdoor bathtub with piping hot water heated by a wood-fired tank – pure bliss under the open sky.
Both of these glampsites are dog-friendly (up to two welcome), child-friendly and ideal for group getaways or relaxed hen parties. You’re just 10 minutes by taxi from Sherborne station meaning you’re well connected yet blissfully secluded. Don’t miss local produce at Dike & Son in nearby Stalbridge - and for something extra special, estate venison is available on request.
The surrounding woodland is a rich mosaic of mature oak, hazel coppice, pine and beech, with rare wild service trees adding a touch of old-world magic. It’s a haven for wildlife – butterflies flit through sunlit glades, while barn owls glide silently at dusk and foxes patrol the edges of the trees.
