The detail

Sleeping, suspended, on the side of a mountain, in a transparent capsule is definitely not for the faint hearted. However, for those of you looking for a totally extravagant, limit-busting and completely one of a kind experience- you've found it.

Situated in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, in Peru, these transparent & weather resistant pods are suspended a whopping 1312 feet above the ground and offer unparalleled views of both the Sacred Valley and the unpolluted night skies above. Reached only by via ferrata (a set climbing route with ropes, ladders and bridges- it literally translates to "iron path" in Italian) or a slightly formidable hike which includes the odd zip line, the effort is well rewarded when you reach the pods.

Don't make the mistake of thinking an adventure break means slumming it; you can tick off your bucket list in total luxury at the Skylodge Adventure Suites. Each pod is equipped with a bedroom, dining area and private bathroom with eco toilet and sink. The beds have proper mattresses (not a camp bed or sleeping mat in sight) fresh cotton bedding and lovely downy pillows. If you can tear your eyes away from the stars you're going to sleep like a baby.

While you're here you're also going to find out what it's like to enjoy a gourmet meal at 400 metres above ground level. Food is freshly prepared by your experienced guides, who have planned your entire meal and brought it up the mountain with them in their backpacks! Wine is provided as well, but it's your choice as to whether you want to mix 1312 feet with a bit of the old vino. But don't worry! The guides are there to ensure your safety and enjoyment at all times; these guys are friendly, multi lingual, and multi talented- not only do they share their local knowledge with you, but they keep you safe whilst using their highly capable climbing expertise to guide you up the mountain to your pod.

So, if you're into your adventures this is one you really must book. We can't think of a more unique trip, or any thing that fits the phrase "once in a life time" more aptly than this. Don't give it a second thought- you won't regret it.

The Pods can be reached from Cuzco City and prices include transportation to and from base camp, a personal guide to help you up and down the mountain, an evening meal with a bottle of wine, breakfast in the morning and a snack for the descent. Cuzco city its self is the gateway to the Sacred Valley and is often a starting point from which people begin the gruelling Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu. The city is full of ancient architecture, bustling squares and busy markets. There's plenty of restaurants and bars in which to try out the local food and drink too. It's a fabulous place to acclimatise to the altitude and practise your Spanish on the locals.
