Set amidst the beautiful rolling countryside of the Shropshire Hills, Middle Farm is the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle and reconnect with the outdoors. There are three cottages to choose from, sleeping between two and six guests and offering plenty in the way of rural charm and character. They have all been converted from traditional farm buildings dating back to the 16th century and you’ll find original features like the beautiful wooden beams still on display. You’ll be sharing the farm with a variety of animals including rare Soay Sheep, Brown Swiss Cows and magnificent Shire Horses who are ready to take you out for a scenic carriage ride through the surrounding countryside.
Daisy’s Place and Gooseyard Cottage are both cosy cottages for two that have been converted from spacious old stone buildings and beautifully furnished. Both have open-plan living, kitchen and dining areas on the ground floor with plenty of space to stretch out and put your feet up after a long walk in the countryside. You’ll find everything you need to rustle up delicious meals in the kitchen and you can buy fresh produce from the farm, including chicken and duck eggs and cuts of the rare Soay lamb. Both cottages have luxurious super-king size beds in their bedrooms upstairs and bathrooms where you can enjoy a long soak or a shower using water from the farm’s own natural spring.
The Barn is the perfect choice for families or groups of friends with its three bedrooms, comfortably accommodating up to six guests. Relax in the cosy living area, curled up on the sofa with a good book or watching a film on the smart TV. When it’s time to make dinner, you’ll find everything you need in the well-equipped kitchen and everyone can gather around the lovely antique pine farmhouse table to eat. The master bedroom is on the ground floor with a sumptuous super-king size bed and a large ensuite bathroom. There are separate staircases up to the other two bedrooms, a king room and a twin, which are both cosy hideaways under the eaves of the house, framed by the beautiful exposed beams.
Outside, there’s a lovely shared garden area with a log burner and a BBQ so you can enjoy long summer evenings outdoors. There’s plenty of seating for all guests, including a pavilion in the middle of the garden, covered by roses and offering a peaceful spot to sit and relax. There’s also a fire pit for toasting marshmallows and a weather-proof Dutch Barn set up with games just in case.
You’ll find plenty to do in the area, especially when it comes to outdoor activities. Lace up your walking boots and head out along The Shropshire Way, a 297-mile route through beautiful countryside. The hills provide some great cycling routes and you’ll find a secure place to store any bikes back at the farm. You're also nicely placed for visiting the Long Mynd. You’ll also have access to a well-stocked fishing lake about five minutes’ walk from the farm. There are several English Heritage and National Trust properties within easy distance of the farm, including the stunning Powys Castle and the beautifully maintained estate of Berrington Hall.
