Kate’s Lazy Desert hotel, located in the Hi-desert, California has 6 Lovingly restored vintage airstream trailers. Each one has been kitted out with everything you will need for a comfortable stay along with colourful and quirky accessories. The airstreams have a great history; the hotel bought ‘LAVA’ from a coven of witches who wanted to give the airstream a good home and ‘TIKI’ was rescued by the hotel after having been stuck in thick mud for some time. Despite their interesting past, the trailers are now in impeccable condition, they’re cosy and fun. Each airstream is air conditioned and accommodates two adults with a comfy double bed, fresh bathroom and compact kitchenette complete with coffee maker and cooking utensils. There is also a BBQ grill for rustling up a tasting al fresco meal and a hammock to really chill out in. The local grocery store, The Hero Market, is about 6 miles down the road if you want to stock up on goods and there is also a fantastic choice of restaurants in the local area; among others you’ll find Mexican food, BBQ’s, burger joints and even a sushi bar! There is a barrel for burning wood on site, affectionately name the ‘hobo hottie’, which is great for warming up to at night when gazing at the starry night sky. Another additional bonus is the newly installed above ground swimming pool, perfect for cooling off in the baking hot desert sun.
If you feel like exploring then the local area has so much to explore! If you’re into hiking, there are plenty of rugged trails for you to get your teeth into. Other attractions nearby include; Captain Don’s Giant Rock Rides, the Joshua Tree National Park and the Hi-desert nature museum. The Desert Park has a rich cultural history and a wonderful variety of plants and animals for you to spot. It’s a landscape which has been shaped by the desert’s strong winds and torrents of rain, which have formed stunning geological features. Integration is another great place to check out. It’s a mix of art, science and magic and is well worth a visit.
