An idyllic escape burrowed amidst the charming fields of Kilve, Somerset, Charlotte’s Hut is a modernised Shepherd’s Hut that combines rusticity with luxury. With an outdoor fire pit, indoor wood burner, outdoor bath tub and outdoor seating, this is the perfect escape from reality. Located on the site of the Old Rectory House, guests have unique access to a farm shop for all the quintessential Somerset goods and home-cooked meals alike, from pork sausages and cream teas, to house curries.
An endlessly romantic bolthole, Charlotte’s Hut sleeps two in a cosy, pull down double bed designed to maximise the space. The curved glass skylight looms over the bed and the dark rural skies are apt for stargazing. With a selection of board games, cards, local maps, books, a birdwatching kit and a fossil hunting kit, this rustic Shepherd’s Hut provides endless entertainment.
The quaint, stylish kitchenette is ideal for avid cooks and has all you need to prepare delicious meals during your stay. The space is fully furnished with an induction hob, Belfast sink, brass worktop and a fridge/freezer. The kitchen area also features an adaptable table where you can enjoy meals and a corner seating area where you can sit with a good book. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, oil and salt and pepper are provided, alongside utensils, a toaster, kettle, and a coffee pot. Guests can sit up the table with their morning coffee or take it outside in the summer sunshine before heading out to explore the area.
The bathroom is fully modernised, equipped with an electric shower, heated towel rail, marble sink and flushing toilet, with towels, a hairdryer and complimentary Bramley toiletries provided for a luxurious experience. This is a lot more than your standard glamping bathroom!
Outside, guests will love sitting by the firepit where they can take in the amazing surroundings. Or, go a step further and hop into the wood-fired outdoor bath tub, the perfect place to enjoy a luxurious soak whilst breathing the fresh country air.
The wider grounds of the Old Rectory House offer up astonishing snapshots of the Somerset countryside, featuring a walled orchard and a willow tunnel leading up to the croquet lawn. The seating areas allow ample space for rest and reflection, accompanied by the adjacent wildflower meadow for picnics or naps in the grass alike. WiFi is also included, alongside a complimentary welcome pack of local Somerset produce.
Amble on down to Kilve Beach, St Audries Bay or Great Wood for an afternoon stroll, or sample an essence of the local history with a trip to the Market House Museum, the Somerset and Dorset Railway Trust, or Dunster Castle. The adjacent Dunster Forest and Estate and the Dunster Museum and Doll Collection are a similar sample of the local culture, and the surrounding beaches are excellent for fossil hunting. The Walled Gardens of Cannington are an equally rewarding visit, alongside the Fyne Court Nature Reserve and Steam Coast Trail.
