The huts benefit from tinyhome style design, with each combining a cosy, intimate space with the comprehensive amenities you'd expect from a full scale cottage. Stay cosier in the chillier months with your very own engineered woodburning stove and underfloor heating, and cook up a storm using your full kitchen. As well as an ultra-comfy double bed in the lounge-cum-bedroom, the shepherds huts benefit from high pressure hot water in the ensuite showers. There really is nothing quite like waking in your own private space and taking in the soft Devon sunrise as it lights up the valley. Enjoy a cup of coffee on your patio and look forward to a lengthy hike though the trails, a first class pub lunch nearby and a relaxing soak in the hot tub with a cold local beer in the afternoon.
For anybody who enjoys spending time outdoors, the Blackdown Hills is a hidden gem, with big blue skies overhead, an abundance of fauna and rolling greenery as far as the eye can see. Spend your days out and about, taking in the small villages dotted around, visiting historic buildings and eating incredible food, then drift back to your romantic shepherds hut to bathe under the skies or read in front of the stove.
Although the area is known primarily for its stunning vistas and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is plenty for foodies and cultural enthusiasts to get stuck into in the local area. Both the Ashill Inn and Culm Valley Inn are fantastic local pubs, with everything you can expect from a brilliant rural pub- slap up meals, a cheery atmosphere and great local beers, both accessed via charming walks to build up an appetite.
For a more formal experience, head to the extraordinary Lakeview Manor in Honiton, a high-end hotel with 45 acres of gardens, parkland and ponds. The menu is excellent and the manor setting is definitely worth experiencing. If you don't fancy leaving home base, there is also a number of local chefs who are happy to cater dinner parties, or simply prepare and drop off exquisite local fare for you to enjoy from the comfort of your hut or patio.
