Hotel Espléndido was built in 1954, right on the beach front in the wonderful Puerto de Sóller. It has since been refurbished with love into a beautifully glamorous "modern-vintage" seaside hotel.
The hotel can offer accommodation for most budgets with 69 double rooms of varying sizes. Some with sea views and terraces, others with garden views to the rear. All feature aircon, free wifi and ensuite bath or shower rooms.
The hotel ground floor is comprised of an extensive cocktail bar and lounge area, with areas inside and out on the veranda to relax and enjoy a drink or sample something from their excellent bar food menu. They also have a great selection of local wines. If you fancy something more substantial there is a lively bistro style restaurant serving fresh Mediterranean and international cuisine, again with tables inside and outside.
Should the two beaches not be enough for you, at the rear there is a lovely terraced garden with 2 pools.
Port of Soller is in the north west of the island, a mere 40 minute drive from Palma. It is situated in one of Mallorca's most beautiful horseshoe harbours. Surrounded by the Tramuntana mountains, this town has the best of both worlds - magnificent mountain scenery and a sea view to boot. It has not been overdeveloped and offers a relaxing vibe.
There is a tram which connects you to Soller for access to its weekly Saturday market, other shopping or just a day trip out. It is a great base for hiking and walking. There are also companies that specialise in boat trips for diving, snorkelling, or accessing some of the smaller coves and beauty spots like Sa Calobra.
