The Details...

Escape to the beauty of Devon at Whitelady House, which sits among the spectacular surroundings of Dartmoor. The large self-catering cottage sleeps up to 12 guests and is the perfect venue for short breaks, family holidays, hen parties, and much more.

The house has been lovingly restored so that it has everything needed for modern living, without losing any of its traditional charm. Exposed stone work, oak beams, and inglenook fireplaces are seen throughout to provide a homely atmosphere.

The ground floor at Whitelady House is given over to the living quarters, with spacious rooms catering for large groups. The fully equipped modern kitchen has integrated appliances as well as an Aga meaning cooking for your friends and loved ones is nice and straightforward. The dining room leads on from the kitchen and has an original slate floor and huge oak table that can comfortably sit 12 people. From the dining room is the drawing room - one of two social spaces. Complete with wood burner and comfy sofas making it the perfect place to unwind. There is also a further sitting room with another wood burner, leather sofas, TV, DVD player and iPod docking station.

The first of the six bedrooms is found on the ground floor and is a twin room with en-suite bathroom and dressing room. Two oak staircases then lead up to the first floor and its five luxuriously designed bedrooms, each with their own individual charm. Two of these bedrooms have king size beds and an en-suite shower room. The other three are twin bedrooms and share a large family bathroom.

The outside space is just as impressive as the inside. Here guests can enjoy alfresco dining on the south-facing patio with gas barbecue, play croquet on the lawn, or sit back and relax in the hot tub. Further stress can be taken away by using the ‘ski chalet style service’ of allowing the hosts to prepare and serve meals at the house.

Having Dartmoor National Park on the doorstep opens up a wealth of activities. There are 360 square miles of rugged tors filled with amazing wildlife that guests can explore on foot, horseback, or cycling. The historic nearby village of Lydford is home to two pubs, while Lydford Gorge with its spectacular 30m waterfall is not to be missed.
