Stunning Georgian Country House and cottage close to Cornish Coast steeped in local history and set in acres of wildflower and gardens
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
Set in expansive grounds, Treseren consists of an old Mine Captain’s House steeped in history, and beside it is an adjoining annexe. These beautiful properties are available to rent individually or together. Benefiting from a timeless, elegant aesthetic combining original Georgian features and architecture with a few judicious contemporary updates, both Treseren's properties represent the ultimate Cornish self-catering experience.
Shepherds House is the larger, a former mine captain’s dwelling now painstakingly converted into a holiday home for up to eight guests. The house benefits from a subtle, understated palette, with warm, neutral colours, large windows, and classically elegant furnishings. As well as super-king sized and king-size bed, there is a twin single room and fourth bedroom with versatile twin single or double bed option. One bedroom benefits from an en-suite, while the others share a family-style bathroom, plus an additional ground floor lavatory.
The kitchen and living room are two truly outstanding spaces, with flawless design creating rooms which are a joy to be in. An antique wood-burning stove, with free kindling throughout your stay, sits in the fireplace, and vintage furniture has been carefully selected. Gleaming hardwood floors are complemented by stunning architectural features, including soaring sash windows with original shutters. Light pours in to the sitting rooms and the spacious day room with French doors leading out to the gardens, creating a bright and airy relaxed space for indoor-outdoor living. Guests tend to congregate here for a multitude of functions throughout the day and evening. Next door, the kitchen is a triumph of aesthetics and function, with serious branded appliances which even the most discerning of home cooks will be thrilled by. A double Smeg range is matched by the amenities, utensils and cookware which come with the kitchen. Timber and painted wood cabinets lend the room a high-end farmhouse look, while guests will be thrilled to find a functional aga, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and large fridge-freezer.
Set behind Shepherds House is the smaller but equally decadent and pleasingly decorated Skye Cottage, a one-bedroom freestanding annexe which is perfect for individuals and couples. Over two storeys, the house contains a private bedroom and en-suite, as well as a shower room and substantial living room which benefits from views over the surrounding landscape. A south-facing deck is the perfect place to drink a cocktail, and like the larger Shepherds House, all amenities from speedy Wi-Fi to a comprehensive kitchen are provided.
Treseren's guests tend to find that between their stunning Georgian cottages and the large, private outdoor spaces, there is very little cause to leave home base. That said, this area of Cornwall has plenty of charming smaller towns, packed with galleries and arts studios, as well as gastropubs and locally championed restaurants specialising in fish and seafood. The beautiful undulating Cornish coastline is nearby, and its certainly worth making a day trip to the Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth’s house.
A well equipped and spacious Georgian gem which makes for a great space for families and friends to gather.
Stunning coastline and beaches within a 10 minute drive of Treseren and fabulous restaurants throughout Cornwall, which has become renowned as a foodie haven.
