  • Stylish interiors are awash with bespoke furniture, one-off pieces and colourful textiles.
  • Some of the rooms offer enchanting views over Mawddach Estuary and Snowdonia.
  • With a strong focus on the local area - The Slate Shed completely champions their local food (and beer) heroes. And we think they do them proud.

The Details...

This former Victorian slate cutting mill is now home to The Slate Shed B&B. With super-chic bedrooms and jaw-dropping views over the Mawddach Estuary in Snowdonia National Park - it’s no wonder that it comes highly recommended by The Guardian, The Independent and Country Living (just to name a few).

Effortless style complements this characterful building, making it a relaxed and comfy place to stay. In the five beautiful en-suite rooms you’ll find handmade toiletries and a fairtrade refreshments tray. And of course, captivating views come as standard from the communal areas.

Breakfasts have a strong focus on local produce with local meats, honey and homemade bread - we dare you to find a better ‘Full Welsh’ breakfast anywhere else in Cymru. And if you fancy an evening tipple, there’s even an honesty bar downstairs. Showcasing some of the finest local ales in the area, you can’t say fairer than that.

The five bedrooms are all ensuite with the two estuary facing rooms having fabulous views. The interiors relish in rich colours, locally made furniture and colourful Welsh woollen blankets. Crisp white bed linen sit beautifully next to the vibrant nature inspired textiles. There’s also the rather delicious surprise of artisan chocolates - made in Snowdonia - for you to savour.

The bathrooms are all super-sleek and sparkling. And handmade Cole & Co body wash and lotion means you can take a little longer luxuriating in the bath or shower.

The shared dining room is both light and airy and cosy all at the same time and has large communal tables, repurposed chapel chairs and the most glorious views. If you don’t think you’ll make it down for breakfast, there’s always a breakfast hamper that can be delivered to your room - perfect for those not planning on hurrying anywhere soon.

Downstairs you’ll also find a lounge with cosy sofas and a wood burning stove - sit back, relax and enjoy the view or the art books, maps and local guides.

Locally, walks start straight from the door with over 40 acres of woodland and meadows to explore. In the immediate area, there’s lots to get stuck into from horse-riding on the beach to zip-wires, mountain biking and white-water rafting. For the less adventurous, you can head to the charming town of Dolgellau with its independent shops and plentiful cafe’s. The main thing our guests love to do is walk or cycle the Mawddach Trail from our gate, along the estuary and across the iconic Barmouth viaduct to the seaside.
