The detail

An exquisite boutique hotel in the Cairngorms National Park, The Old Manse of Blair makes a wonderful retreat. Situated close to Blair Atholl and Pitlochry, this seven-bedroom listed property is full of old-school Highland charm and contemporary design touches, and a fantastic restaurant.

Your stay at The Old Manse of Blair can be as formal or relaxed as you wish – the house lends itself to both. Each of the bedrooms are furnished with care and attention, including the seven bedrooms. You have satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and a Nespresso machine in each one, with some also enjoying beautiful views over the paddocks and grounds. The house can accommodate up to 14 guests, and the largest bedrooms also have use of their own luxurious bathrooms, each with free-standing bath and rainfall shower.

You will find cosy bathrobes, slippers and luxury Arran Aromatics toiletries in each of the house’s en suite bathrooms, including the one in the Georgian Wing, a more recent addition to the Old Manse (well, 1842), which can serve as a self-contained suite. This is perfect if you’re after a little more privacy, and it has easy access from the ground floor. French doors open from the Whisky Snug to the sun terrace, a lovely spot to spend some time in the open air. A perfect base for shooting parties with a gun room and for those wishing to take part in the many field sports available on local estates.

The stunning country location of The Old Manse of Blair is easily reached, with rail connections to nearby Blair Atholl from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London on the Caledonian Sleeper from Euston. If you bring a car, you will be able to explore the wonders of the Cairngorms with ease too, or head south to Pitlochry in less than 20 minutes or Perth in around 30.

Perthshire is home to some amazing golf courses and fishing spots, or for something even more adrenaline-fuelled, try bungee jumping, quad-biking or, weather permitting, snow-boarding.
