This wonderfully reclaimed and refurbished old Devon railway carriage is a luxurious, self-contained space for a couple seeking a romantic and peaceful break surrounded by nature and very friendly cows.
Nestled in a private garden on a family farm, this holiday carriage has been designed and finished to a very high and thoughtful standard. Floating on a raised platform the interior has everything you could need and the décor is both modern and deliciously rustic.
At one end you'll find a very cosy double bed beneath an enchanting copper ceiling that has three tiny windows through which you can star gaze as you lie snuggled up under the blankets. There are three small steps up to the bed and beneath you'll find plenty of space for storing luggage.
On the opposite side is a cosy seating area with two little arm chairs, a foot stool and a table. Perfect for playing cards whilst you sip a glass of something delicious. The colours throughout are greys and blues with natural wood giving the place a calm tranquil feel.
The bathroom has some very funky distressed blue tiling above a stone sink next to the glass partitioned shower where you can enjoy all the complimentary Bamford Organics toiletries on offer.
In the centre of the carriage is a small well-designed kitchen area with an induction cooker, a ninja portable oven, fridge and all the crockery, glassware and condiments you'll need to cook a romantic meal for two. Or just toast if that's what you fancy.
The outdoor area is an absolute treat. Sit on the comfy chairs and enjoy your morning coffee whilst taking in the view. Say hi to the cows who are friendly and surprisingly quiet with respect to your morning lie in. If you want to start the day with a buzz you might like to hop in the fresh water cold tub and scream 'Wim Hoff!' before climbing out high on nature and crawling into the vast hot tub which the owners have thoughtfully fitted with a champagne holder!
As afternoon drifts into evening fire up the BBQ and get some sausages sizzling whilst you set the table with its fairy lights and wooden bench seating, ready for a romantic dinner al fresco. After dinner head back to the chairs with a bottle and sit around the fire pit, cosy as can be with nothing but the stars to gaze at. And when it's time for bed you can put some logs in the burner and doze off to the crackling of wood as you snuggle under the duvet.
The village of North Curry is a mile away and has a local pub and a shop/Post Office. The farm is located in the Somerset levels with access to plenty of beautiful walks. You'll find a good choice of pubs and restaurants nearby including The Firehouse and Barrington Boar where you'll find a delicious selection of drinks and a fine menu. Coates English Willow has a lovely coffee shop and is only a mile from the carriage through the fields.
