The Details...

This towering engine house has been lovingly converted into a beautiful apartment, perfect for a romantic getaway steeped in Cornish history.

The Engine House was previously part of the Tregurtha Downs tin mine, which closed in 1902. It is one of a small handful of converted engine houses, making staying here a very special experience.

West Cornwall’s beautiful coastline and countryside are easily accessible from Marazion. The fishing ports of St. Ives and Mousehole, the cove of Perranuthnoe, and Parr Sands for surfing are all nearby.

Set in an acre of gardens, this is a calm, peaceful space inside and out. The grounds are shared with the owner, but there is also a private lawn for sole use of guests.

A spacious terrace overlooks the grounds and surrounding countryside. Take a drink outside and enjoy the view in the evening sun.

The apartment has a private entrance, opening onto the living room. A luxurious L-shaped sofa and flatscreen TV are set up for a relaxed evening at the end of a day’s exploring.

The elegant bedroom with king-sized bed has blackout curtains for a peaceful night’s sleep. On the same level, the shower room is clean and modern. Towels and bed linen are provided and there is a washing machine available for use.

An additional space off the living room can be used as a dressing room or to watch a film. The leather sofa can be converted into a single bed suitable for a child. Check with the owner before booking to make sure that this is possible.

Descend a spiral staircase to a long, bright kitchen equipped with cooker, hob, kettle, toaster, and microwave. Enjoy breakfast by a window overlooking the garden.

The Engine House is 5 minutes from sandy Marazion beach, with spectacular views to St. Michael’s Mount. The water is safe and clean, and a lifeguard patrol means that it’s perfect for swimming. Praa Sands, a little further along the coast, is great for surfing.

The island of St. Michael’s Mount can be accessed on foot at low tide. Explore the historic chapel and castle, or wander the stunning sub-tropical gardens.

Marazion has a selection of restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Nearby Porthleven is a destination for fresh seafood, with Rick Stein’s restaurant and the award-winning Quayside fishmonger’s.
