Located in the quaint village of Lyonshall, this home is a perfect match for those seeking a relaxing yet memorable break in Herefordshire. The place is thoroughly up-to-date, with carefully curated interiors and all the essentials needed for a restful family holiday. To make your break even more memorable, treat yourself to a flowers and wine delivery or a gas BBQ, bookable in advance.
The ground floor allows the whole group to spend quality time together while ensuring everyone’s comfort. Expect crisp, clean decor, high ceilings and large windows, allowing plenty of natural light to flood the space. You’ll enter through the hallway, leading to a handy laundry room and the main sitting room with soft sofas and a 65-inch TV for watching your favourite blockbusters. From here, you’ll find a separate cinema room – ideal for little ones wanting to catch up on their cartoons or sports fans keen to watch a game.
The open-plan shaker-style kitchen will please even the most discerning chef. There is an American fridge freezer, a stainless steel Rangemaster oven and plenty of counter space for prepping something tasty. Perch with your morning coffee or take a seat at the large dining table. A single bedroom, with access to a WC, completes the downstairs area.
The first floor of the property boasts six sumptuous bedrooms. The main bedroom comprises a super-king size bed and an ensuite with a bath, while the fifth bedroom features a bunk bed and is ideal for children. The second and third bedrooms share bathroom facilities, and bedroom four has its own ensuite. Bedroom six doubles as an additional living space if you’d prefer. Spa towels, robes and slippers are provided – a welcome sight when you emerge from a long, hot shower.
Bi-fold doors open onto the patio and south-facing garden – the perfect setting for alfresco dining in the summer. You’ll notice a paddock directly by the house, where Ryeland sheep regularly nibble the grass.
With three circular walks and a buggy-friendly path, there are walking options for all rambling types. In under an hour’s mosey from the doorstep is the nearby village of Almeley, where you’ll encounter a local pub for a post-hike pint. On days when you’d prefer to save your energy, jump in the car and drive for 26 minutes to the charming market town of Hay-on-Wye.
You're also nicely placed in the heart of Herefordshire, which is flanked by Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Shropshire on one side, and Wales on the other. If you venture out there are lots of lush green fields, Hereford cattle and abundant apple orchards for you to explore. The landscape features rolling countryside, offering picturesque views and wonderful walking opportunities.
If you’re after a day out, the nearby towns of Kington, Leominster, Ludlow and Hereford each provide unique attractions. Or why not stay a bit closer to home and visit the serene rural village of Lyonshall, surrounded by charming timber-framed houses and the pretty farmland?
