The Details...

This property has a 7 nights minimum stay in high season.

The charming Stables Cottage can be found within the grounds of an 18th century stables courtyard on the Galloway House Estate, in the idyllic surrounds of the Dumfries and Galloway countryside - and just moments from the beach. The cottage oozes charm, with its original stonework exterior and beautifully realised home away from home interior.

The cottage is lovingly decorated with an exceptionally homely feel throughout. The spacious sitting room comes with a real fire and a collection of entertainments including a TV and DVD player and a selection of boardgames. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a large six seated dining table for those who enjoy dining with the family, while the bathroom has a large and romantic free-standing bath alongside a separate shower. The cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, each lovingly realised, especially the master bedroom which has a large Lit-bateau double bed wall mounted mirror and antique finishings, while the two smaller bedrooms have comfortable twin beds and light furnishings.

The cottage is part of a larger estate which is set within some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside and coastline. The scenery here is intoxicating, with vast landscapes of rolling hills and enchanting forestry all easily explorable by foot. Better yet - the cottage is just a short 10-minute walk from the beach which is a part of the estate (and therefore mostly always pleasantly tranquil) and delightfully rustic, and makes for a perfect picnic spot in the summertime.

There’s plenty to do besides walk too - including tennis, golf and sea and fresh water fishing. If you feel like exploring the locale then we suggest you take a walk around Wigtown - known as Scotland’s book town for its intriguing collection of (17) bookshops. Aside from the bookshops (which include Scotland’s second largest second-hand bookstore) there’s a beautiful lot of thatched cottages, homely houses and historic architecture, which includes a typical parish church with ruins that date as far as the 13th century.
